What does it look like when everyone gets to experience the outdoors?

The Best Day Ever documentary follows adaptive mountain bikers Greg Durso and Allie Bianchi as they tackle the daily challenges of disability—and find joy, connection, and belonging in Vermont's mountain biking community. Set in the Green Mountains, this is a story of grit, independence, and what’s possible when community and creativity come together. At its heart is the world’s first fully adaptive trail network—built to prove that everyone belongs outside.

We’re especially excited to be part of the conversation! Disability Advocates of Kent County’s Jackson Botsford will join a panel of local leaders in trails, disability, and adaptive recreation, moderated by Friends of Grand Rapids Parks Executive Director Stacy Bare. The panel will explore accessibility, adaptive recreation, and what it takes to create outdoor spaces where everyone can participate and belong.

Who should get a flu shot? Everyone 6 months and older should get an annual flu shot, but it’s especially important for those in these high-risk categories: Children under the age of 5, especially under the age of 2, pregnant women, adults 65+, those with chronic conditions and caregivers, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Find flu vaccines in your area at vaccinefinder.org. Learn more about the flu shot from our friends at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan’s MI Blue Daily blog. https://buff.ly/UwLbXM1

Julianna has participated in Youth Transition Services through KISD’s Empower U program for several years. She built real-world job readiness skills through hands-on support with completing online applications, creating and updating resumes, and learning how to navigate job search platforms.

She also practiced communicating professionally in different settings and developed stronger self-advocacy skills by learning how to ask questions, express her needs, and speak up with confidence.

After practicing these skills in Disability Advocates’ mock interviews, Julianna secured employment. “Those Mock Interviews helped me build the confidence needed to apply for the job I have right now. I know I was more comfortable and successful in the interview because I had practiced with Disability Advocates.” Your support will help us continue to support young adults like Julianna.
