This summer, we strengthened participant care at our Lowell center through our ongoing partnership with the Dementia Institute.

Over four weekly, two-hour sessions, nine more team members became dementia-certified professionals, meaning our entire team at this location has now completed this specialized training! A variety of departments participated — everything from physical therapy and social work to nutrition services and admin support. Because dementia touches every aspect of care, every role has an important part to play.

We're incredibly grateful to the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce for making this training possible through the Ivan K. Blough Training Fund. With your support, we can continue to provide compassionate, knowledgeable care and give family caregivers reassurance and respite. Thank you for recognizing the importance of dementia education and helping us continue to advance the care our community deserves!

This Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, we’re celebrating the moments that bring connection, purpose, and joy.

Laughter shared between residents. Smiles exchanged with loved ones. Caregivers discovering new ways to connect. These are the everyday joys the Tovertafel helps make possible.

Through grant funding and collaboration with Holland Home, the Dementia Institute helped bring multiple Tovertafel units to Holland Home communities. This innovative interactive projection system uses purposeful play to encourage cognitive, social, physical, and sensory engagement for people living with dementia.

Every interaction is a reminder that even small moments of connection can spark joy, preserve dignity, and enrich the lives of residents, families, and those who care for them.

We're grateful to partner with Holland Home through our shared Trillium Living commitment to advancing compassionate, person-centered dementia care.

We're excited to see continued momentum around the Intergenerational Living Initiative, our partnership with MSU College of Human Medicine, now featured in the latest issue of MSU Today. Through this innovative program, medical student Kaylin Burton engages directly with older adults living with dementia, helping to shape both dementia care and the future of medical education.

We are proud to see this program highlighted again as it grows and inspires broader conversations about compassionate, person- centered care.
