On this last day of Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re grateful to share a reflection from Jeremiah X. Gómez , Arrabon board member and facilitator, on the years-long journey of embracing his heritage as part of what it means to follow Jesus.

He honors the faith of his two grandmothers and the gift of Hispanic and Latino worship, which holds the cross and the resurrection together and points us to “a God who knows our suffering.” His invitation to the Church is to see the image of God in the people all around us, those who look like us and those who don’t.

Building bridges across culture is holy work, and it isn't always comfortable. Sandra Maria Van Opstal reminds us that crosscultural worship asks us to leave what's familiar and cross over to another way of being together.

In her book, The Next Worship, she describes this as a posture of hospitality, solidarity, and eventually mutuality, moving from "we welcome you" to "we need you."

We're grateful for voices like hers calling the church toward a deeper, more honest unity.

May we keep choosing the bridge, even when it hurts.

When prayer feels faint, what does faithfulness look like? In Consistently Inconsistent, Kadeem Massiah reflects on showing up to God even when we don’t feel like ourselves, trusting that we are still being formed. Reconciliation is a way of life that requires deep dependence on God, and we don’t want to walk it alone.

Last week we had the honor of journeying with the Imago Dei Fund in Montgomery and Selma. We're grateful for their wholehearted commitment to the work of repair, healing, and reconciliation. They've been longstanding faithful partners in our work, and we're so glad to be able to facilitate their team.

The Principles of Engagement are the ground rules we return to whenever we gather people across difference: safety, collaboration, trust, and mutual empowerment. They shape how we listen, how we hold disagreement, and how we make room for stories that aren't ours to tell.

Without shared principles, formation work can slip into performance or conflict. With them, we create the conditions for genuine learning to happen, even when it's uncomfortable.

We're honored to join our friends at the Center for Christianity and Public Life for their annual summit, For the Good of the Public, gathering leaders from churches, nonprofits, government, business, media, and beyond to consider practical Christian contributions for the common good. October 5–7 in D.C.
