Maurice Winley (New York City 2010) & Brandon Woodard (Cincinnati 2021) shared powerful testimonies in facilitating the Interdependence and Empowerment core value sessions.

Participants described the day as “dynamic, mind blowing, affirming, & rejuvenating.”

We ended the night with an awesome spirit filled worship concert featuring Jordan Houghton. God’s presence was truly felt.

Isaias Mercado (Chicago 2000), author of The 10 F Words of Feedback, spoke to the 2027 cohort on the first night of NC1, setting the tone for the core value sessions to come later in the week.

His message, titled The Four Principles of Holistic Growth, looked at Luke 2:41-52 to learn from 12-year-old Jesus’s testimony during the Passover Festival.

1. Jesus first Sat
2. Then he Listened
3. Then he Asked Questions
4. Finally, he Submitted

In these four steps, Jesus demonstrated the posture necessary to grow holistically. Isaias connected this to embracing the Five Core values for participants, galvanizing them to Trust the Process!

✝️ Jesus was with us all day, from worship to personal connection.

Participants gleaned great perspective from deep and rich core value sessions on Accountability and Balance this morning, facilitated by Iteisha Bankston (Cleveland 2023) and Matu Taylor (Los Angeles 2019), respectively.

Nike Greene’s (Portland 2005) powerful testimony during the Leadership and Mental Health session in the afternoon hit home the importance of dealing with our own wounds in order to live healthily and to effectively serve youth, further reminding us that God can heal anything—He is truly amazing.

🧩🕹️ We ended the day with laughter, games, and connection near Lake Michigan.

NC1 Day 3 is next, featuring more core values sessions and an evening celebration. ⭐️
