We enjoyed donating some of our first rounds of freshly picked vegetables to the Soup Kitchen! 🥗

Everything is looking beautiful, and we aren’t ready to head into the cold season. 😢 🍂 It makes us even more excited for next Spring though! 🌱

It is very unfortunate that someone felt the need to steal our ONLY sunflower.. photo on the left was taken on Monday morning and by Tuesday evening it was gone.

Whoever it was also decided it would be fun to pull a small unfurling leaf off of one of our babies in the greenhouse.

People who destroy the garden and its growing life are not welcome on our property. 🪧

Happy Labor Day! ☀️

Today was a great day at the garden.
We threw a mini celebration to celebrate 22 years piercing for our executive director, Jen!
Happy birthday to Pandora’s Piercing! ✨

Some other noteworthy items:
- Finished our tomato trellises! 🍅
- Planted our seedlings of lettuce, Swiss chard, cauliflower & broccoli + planted more seeds 🌱
- Concrete frogs got a nice paint job 🐸
- Supervisor Dottie 🐕 enjoyed lounging pretending she was out at the beach 🏝️
- Classic w**d pulling commenced 🚫

We love our busy Mondays! 💚

We all got to see our first hummingbirds at the feeder! 🕊️

We planted some sunflowers (mammoth, chocolate cherry) and more squash (pink banana, Lakota, round zucchini). 🌻

We also planted over 100 house plant cuttings for a future plant swap event. Make sure you are following the page to hear about events! ✅

Monday was another good day with Kaylee, Jen, & Dottie the Supervisor! 🍀

We hung a few banners around our fence and planted some seeds for the fall garden. 🌱
We planted varieties of lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, cabbage, and swiss chard. Our strawberry starts are planted too! 🍓

We had a fantastic day on Monday 7/14 getting a lot accomplished! Now time to watch the garden grow! 🌿

Thank you to our volunteers (and dedicated supervisor, Miss Dottie♥️) who were able to:
✅Finish filling garden beds with Paonia Soil Co. 🪴
✅Put in a walkway and gravel in the greenhouse 🏡 (look how purdy!)
✅Build a platform around the water station ⛲️ (yay— no more muddy shoes!)
✅Plant all 236 starter plants and fill every single garden bed!

Big shout out to Mt. Garfield Greenhouse— we purchased the last of their starters before the end of the season:
13x Squash
10x Bell Peppers
10x Jalapeños
19x Tomatoes
4x Lt Peppers
60x Bunching Onions
36x Leeks
48x Basil
10x Serrano Peppers

This morning (7/16) we planted Marigold flowers around the tomato plants to help with pest control. (Again thank you to Mt. Garfield Greenhouse for the seed donations earlier this year!) We also planted a few other varieties to fill out the garden beds.

We’re making great progress and are so excited to see our garden begin its growing adventure!

We’ve been having another great week! 🌱

Started off strong 💪🏻 with 6 hours on Monday: finalizing our manure bases in each garden bed, and depositing Paonia Soil Co. across half of the garden. No more manure sifting— yay! 🎉

After that, we made a trip down to Paonia to purchase 4 more cubic yards of soil & unloaded them with the good ol’ tractor! 🚜

We also hit an exciting milestone ✅
Over 100 plants have been planted! We currently have yellow squash, cucumber, and several tomatoes now in the garden beds. We can’t wait to start posting progress pics as they begin to grow & thrive! 🌿

Next week’s goals:
* Finish dispersing all the new soil into the rest of the beds. Then garden bed construction is finally complete! 🌟
* Get more plants and seeds planted!🪴
* Work on tidying up the greenhouse interior.
