You don't have to be an expert on any issue — just a Colorado resident with an opinion! Please take this survey to help improve the state's commenting system!

What happens when Colorado's processes that allow public comment are inaccessible or ineffective? To make those improvements, the state is eliciting opinions directly from us, the public. Please take a few minutes to complete the Colorado Environmental Justice Meaningful Participation Survey. It’s only ten short questions. Your feedback will help identify barriers, highlight what’s working, and improve how the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment engages with communities across Colorado. Let’s make sure the West Slope has a strong voice in this discussion!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, June 3, the Grand Junction City Council will be voting on amendments to two city ordinances regarding camping on public property/public places. As they are worded now, these city ordinances prevent the enforcement of trespassing when no shelter is available. But now, the City Council may vote to criminalize camping on public property even when there is no shelter available. We hope you can be at 250 N. 5th Street tomorrow at 5:30 pm to tell the City Council: It's time to stop the cruelty!

We're in need of petition carriers on behalf of getting the Graduated Income Tax (GIT) on the ballot in November. The GIT promises to lower taxes for 97% of Coloradans; only those making more than $500,000 annually would see an increase. If you'd like to help your local community, this is an important way you can do so! If you're interested, please message Tyler McDermott at [email protected]. And here are some places you can sign the petition this week in Mesa County!

If you'd like to join us in working to get the Graduated Income Tax (GIT) on the ballot in November, we've set up a few "drop-in" locations around Mesa County where you can sign the petition. A GIT will mean lower taxes for 97% of Coloradans. If you earn less than $500,000 you’ll see your taxes go down! Come sign the petition!

With the closure of Homeward Bound on North Ave, our unhoused neighbors have nowhere to sleep, and the city council of Grand Junction is meeting to revise the statute that allows public camping when there are no overnight shelters available.
We encourage you to contact City of Grand Junction through phone, email, and public comment. We want our city to leave the ordinances in place and instead support programs that find stable solutions for people who are struggling.
If you need help connecting or want to attend the meeting tomorrow with others, please reach out to us!

Call to action! We need your help! GJ City Council will be discussing amending city ordinance §12.04.080 regarding camping on public property when no shelter space is available. Please make your voice heard by sending input by Wednesday 12pm by emailing City Council members: [email protected] and COPY City Manager [email protected]. Or leave a voicemail by calling: 970.244.1504. We also hope you will speak out during PUBLIC COMMENT at the meeting, Wednesday May 20, 5:30pm at 250 N 5th St. Comments are allotted 3 minutes.
