Multicultural Coalition

Multicultural Coalition Mission: Empower individuals, embrace cultures and strengthen community. Vision: To build a community that values diversity as its strongest asset.

In September 2001, then-Grand Island Mayor Ken Gnadt led a community team that visited a community center in Garden City, Kansas, which is a national model for services for immigrants. Attendees on the trip were able to see the delivery of immigrant services at Garden City’s one-stop center and meet individually with their counterparts. As a result, the Grand Island group enthusiastically decided

to move forward with the establishment of the Multicultural Coalition, with the long-term goal of developing a comprehensive, one-stop service center. This center would assist with integrating minority newcomers into the community and meeting the transitional needs of Grand Island’s increasingly diverse community.

In Memory of Mark Otto

We are mourning the loss of an another advocate and supporter of the Multicultural Coalition.

Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are with Mark Otto’s family, friends, and colleagues, during this difficult time. Mark was a pivotal board member and board president, thank you for your outstanding contributions to Multicultural.

Meet Mark Otto, our Board member and overall "class clown"! He's the owner/developer for Island Edge Construction. Mark has served on the Board since April of 2016. Give this man a pack of gum and a bottle of water, and he can take on the world! Send your gratitude by making a gift at www.gobiggive.org
