Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Nebraska (BBBS) is a force for change. Inherit in every young person is immense potential.

The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Nebraska is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Together, with Bigs, Littles, the families of young people, and our community, we defend that potential. Healthy relationships support resiliency, inspire, and empower. Since 1967, and as one of over 200 Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliates, we create matches that build powerful relationships. Youth in our community are waiting for Bigs to show up, join their community, expand their network, share in new experiences, and develop strong, committed one-to-one mentoring relationships. Bigs with a variety of life experiences, interests, and strengths are imperative to make quality matches. The benefits for Bigs endure in the same way they do for Littles. Last month's match outing was a little different! Instead of going as one big group, matches got to experience the fair on their own time, and boy, was it a blast! Some were brave enough to try the rides, while others tried new foods. Most importantly, there were lots of smiles and big moments.

For some Littles, this was their first time at the fair, despite living in the State Fair capital! Opportunities like this mean so much. A huge shoutout to Wade Shows for helping our matches make memories that will last. 🎡

Happy 2-Year Matchiversary to Ian and Jeff! 🎉💚

This year looked like a weekly rhythm the two of them built together: hanging out with dogs, church on Sundays, the occasional Sonic run, and a trip to the water park. Ian's also been all-in on the Match Challenges this year — turns out a shot at a gift card is solid motivation. 😂

Jeff's watched Ian grow up in the best way, stepping into 7th grade as a smart, witty young man he's proud to know.

What's next for these two? More dog walks, more match activities, and — let's be honest — more gift cards to win. Happy anniversary, you two! 🐾

Joy doesn't need an explanation. It just shows up on a kid's face — and in that moment, everything else fades away. That's the ROI. That's what it means to be Big.

Almost 9 years. They would've hit the 9-year mark this February, but Tristan graduated first — so we're celebrating early. 🎓

Since 2018, Tristan and Dylan have done it all. 🏒🎨🏈

Paintball outings. Annual hockey games. A Husker game. Running the game ball out for the Siege. Middle school into high school. Front row seats on the bus, every single time. And approximately 4,000 photos where Dylan loves to smile for the camera.

Funny enough, they barely said two words to each other on their very first outing. Eight-plus years later? They're much better at it.

Dylan said "yes" to Tristan years ago — and kept showing up, even as his own life grew to include a family of his own. He was there when Tristan got taller than him. He was there for graduation, cheering loud.

This summer marks match closure for these two — but after almost 9 years and this many memories, we know this isn't goodbye. Congratulations, and good luck to this incredible match! 💚

Second shift at Scoops: done! Our team spent Sunday afternoon with waffle cones, coffee floats, and a LOT of ice cream. Thank you to the board members and staff who came out - it was another successful shift. Thanks to Heartland United Way for this opportunity!

🎉 We're kicking off this week with a matchiversary celebration! 🎉

Jasenia and Robyn have officially been matched for ONE YEAR, and it's been a full one! These two have packed in archery, Pete's Safari, and bowling — but their biggest favorites have been the Happy Brush, building stuffies, and decorating Christmas mugs. We honestly can't believe how much they fit into a single year!

Up next: throwing axes and fishing. Here's to year two, Jasenia and Robyn! 💚
