The Family of the Good Shepherd Bringing the love and care of the Good Shepherd to all His children by caring for children in areas of deepest need.

We provide children from hard places a safe home to live in while they heal emotionally, spiritually and physically. We assist the family of the child to learn the style of parenting that works for their child, or help the child transition to their adoptive home. We also assist adoptive families who are struggling with the extreme behaviors of their adopted child. We assist by providing respite while helping the parents learn the parenting style that works for their child.

Saint John of Capistrano
1386-1456
Feast Day: October 23 (New), March 28 (Trad)
Patronage: Jurist, Military Chaplains
Saint John of Capistrano, a Franciscan friar, and Catholic priest, was born in Italy during turbulent times. He studied and practiced both secular and canon law and was appointed Governor of Perugia. When war broke out he was thrown in prison while working on a peaceful settlement and it was here he had his conversion. With St. James of the Marches, he entered the Franciscans and studied under St. Bernardine of Siena. Famous as a preacher, theologian, and inquisitor, John earned the nickname ’the Soldier Saint’ when he led a crusade to free Belgrade, which had been invaded. He survived the battle, but fell victim to the bubonic plaque on October 23, 1456.
