Everybody can learn, everybody can teach! We empower learners who struggle with literacy skills, so that they can strengthen their communities. Volunteer today!

Serving our community since 1986, Literacy Outreach is a local, non-profit agency that promotes literacy in Garfield County, Colorado. We professionally train volunteers to teach foundational literacy skills: reading, writing, math, and/or English language skills. Demand for our programs is greater now than ever. Adults are waiting to learn. Literacy Outreach works with adults who have the greatest barriers to literacy and learning. For many students, our program is their last opportunity to gain the skills that are essential to survive in a fast-paced and evolving world.

Today we took a group of students to the Red Mountain Water Plant to learn how the City of Glenwood Springs collects, treats and distributes our drinking water. Our students learned new English vocabulary words about water and how clean our water is. We feel very fortunate to live in this beautiful valley surrounded by mountains with fresh lakes and creeks and to have such a talented team making sure that we have enough water to use everyday in our homes! Thank you Glenwood Springs for the tour! 💦
