Everyone say hi to another newbie this year!!!

What made you join roller derby?
—I joined roller derby because I grew up on roller skates. My grandma built the roller rink in grand junction when I was 2 years old so I have been on skates ever since.

What is your street name?
—Kacie Slight

What do you do for work?
—I own my own residential and commercial cleaning business.

One random fact scout you?
—I like to hunt, raise and grow my own food and make my own herbal remedies.

My theme song would be “Fireball” Pitbull

What has surprised you most about Roller Derby?
—The thing that surprises me most about derby is how different the skating is from anything else I’ve done. I’ve had to learn all new ways to skate aggressively.

Hey valley friends! Our nonprofit team is growing (woohoo! 🙌) — which means we’re on the hunt for an indoor space to practice during the months of February through April.

We’re ideally looking for around 5,000 sq. ft. of open floor space, smooth flooring preferred, but we can be flexible with size if something a bit smaller is available. Even temporary or unconventional spaces are welcome — empty warehouses, event halls, unused gym space, industrial units, community centers, etc.

We practice on skates and bring our own gear & safety equipment. We’re also respectful tenants, insured, and happy to work with the owner to find a schedule and agreement that fits everyone.

If you have a space or know someone who might, please reach out here or via DM. Sharing and tagging building owners/property managers is hugely appreciated!

Help us keep growing derby in the valley — we’d love to roll with your support!
