Anthony DeVore suffered a devestating 2–1 defeat. A big win for animals and public safety!

The former Oklahoma Gamefowl Commission president, was on probation after attending a cockfight while running for office. The Oklahoma voters made their voices known, once again, where they stand on cockfighting.

BREAKING: Five Kentucky men have been indicted in a first-of-its-kind use of federal animal-fighting law to prosecute the possession of birds for fighting ventures.

The indictments follow years of investigative work by Animal Wellness Action, the Center for a Humane Economy, and SHARK, exposing Kentucky as a major hub for organized cockfighting and the trafficking of fighting birds.

Our teams documented these networks online, inside cockfighting pits, and through aerial surveillance. Now, federal and state authorities are acting.

These precedent-setting indictments show what federal animal-fighting laws can accomplish when they are vigorously enforced.

Five defendants. Multiple alleged cockfighting operations. A major new step in the federal crackdown on organized animal fighting.

Steve Hindi, President of SHARK, joins Lisa Dent to discuss what backyard rodeos are and how animals are being abused at these events. SHARK is a Geneva-based investigative group that uses drones obtain video and expose different rings committing animal abuse. They then take the evidence to the authorities for them to review. These backyard rodeos take livestock and overwork them, shock them, and in severe cases, rip the tails off of the steer. While Steve has commended authorities for responding quickly to video evidence, there is still a general lack of enforcement of animal abuse laws in the area.
