Despite the rain, Batavia rallied together, raising over $20,000 for local food assistance programs. A heartfelt thank you to all participants, volunteers, and sponsors who made this possible. 📚💖 Keeping Miss Dolly’s Legacy of Literacy Alive 💖📚

We are incredibly grateful to The Batavia Foundation for Educational Excellence (BFEE) for their generous donation supporting September’s books for Batavia kiddos through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library!

This gift is especially meaningful as we continue to honor Miss Dolly’s legacy—a legacy rooted in love, light, literacy, and laughter. 🌈✨

Because of generous community partners like the Batavia Foundation for Educational Excellence, little readers across Batavia will continue to receive a new, high-quality book delivered to their doorstep each month—at no cost to their families.

Community Dinner Table 2026 is done—and what an event! 🌊🍽️

We hoped the rain would hold off, but it did not… and you know what?
It was still fantastic!

What can I say? This COMMUNITY is amazing!

From the attendees who were so good-natured about sitting under tents and maybe getting a little wet… to the volunteers who set up, took down, reset up, covered up, uncovered, and then served in the rain (special thanks to the Gustafson Scholars from Waubonsee Community College - what an amazing group of young people!) and then took it all down again…

To our incredible community of organizations, businesses, and neighbors who were willing to lend tents and help us figure it all out—the trifecta of Beths: Beth Nystrom from Garage 31, Beth Drendel from the City of Batavia, Illinois - Government Offices, and Beth Walker from Batavia MainStreet, along with Hugo Saltijeral at VSW, Sidecar Supper Club & Beer Garden, and so many others…

To our friends at Geneva Winery, who offered to open their doors and host us if things got just a little too wet…

THIS IS BATAVIA! ❤️

And let me just say—I am beside myself with gratitude for my incredible Board of Directors volunteers who spent so much time and energy bringing this event to life, with Molly Nelson Conklin leading the charge! I truly could not be more grateful for this group.

And after ALL of that…

We were able to raise just over $20,000 to combat food insecurity right here in Batavia. 🥹❤️

Our hearts are full.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, pitched in, rolled with the weather, opened a door, lent a tent, bought a ticket, made a donation, volunteered, sponsored, or simply cheered us on.

The table is set. The food is ready. The band is warming up. The drinks are chilled. The raffle and silent auction are packed with goodies. And we're ready to welcome our Batavia community to Community Dinner Table: A Taste of the Coast!

This evening, we're gathering around one very long table for an evening of food, fun, music, and community—all in support of local programs fighting food insecurity.
