MUSIC BUFFS is looking for local businesses to be part of a BIG year for Batavia music!

2027 marks 100 years of band in Batavia and the 60th All City Band Festival. It’s also a big year for music education across BPS101—this spring, the district was recognized by the NAMM Foundation as a Best Community for Music Education for the 12th time in the last 13 years.

For local businesses, that makes this a great year to get involved, reach Batavia music families and the community, and support the students and programs that make Batavia’s music community so strong.

Advertising opportunities include:
👕 60/100 Commemorative T-Shirt Sponsorship
Feature your business logo on the commemorative shirt celebrating 100 years of band in Batavia and the 60th All City Band Festival. The shirts will be worn by approximately 550 students in grades 5–12.

🎵 Concert Slide Ads
Your business featured before Batavia music concerts throughout the 2026–2027 school year.

📱 Digital Program Ads
Reach Batavia music families and the community through concert programs.

⭐ Combination Packages

Choose multiple advertising opportunities for greater visibility and savings.
We’ve extended the advertising deadline through Friday, October 9!
If you own a local business—or know a business that would like to be part of this special year—we’d love to have you participate.

Interested in advertising with MUSIC BUFFS? The full details and online ordering link are in the comments.

Thank you for supporting Batavia music and helping us celebrate 100 years of band in Batavia!

Some pretty big news for Batavia Public School District 101 music — and one that deserves a little extra attention.

Congratulations to Chris Owen, who has been selected by his peers to serve as the next President of Illinois Music Education Association District 9, beginning January 1.

ILMEA is the statewide professional organization for music educators in Illinois, supporting music education through professional development, advocacy and leadership across the state. District 9 represents music educators in our part of Illinois, making Chris’s selection a recognition that extends well beyond BPS101.

Chris is a BPS101 band teacher and one of the BHS band directors. He also serves as Fine Arts Department Chair, a teacher-leader role encompassing both music and visual arts. In addition to his work in the classroom, Chris leads the BHS Jazz Workshop, co-leads the Batavia Marching Band with Brian VanKley and the marching band staff, and serves as the BHS and elementary school representatives to the Batavia Music Buffs Board.

Chris also spearheads the annual Batavia Band Festival, held each February at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre. Since 2018, the festival has given high school bands that aren't typically part of the top-tier competitive festival circuit the opportunity to perform on the BFAC main stage, work with experienced clinicians and receive substantive feedback. Each ensemble receives a professionally recorded performance, clinician comments, percussion-specific feedback and an extended clinic — with no ratings, awards or placements. The focus is simply on giving students and directors a meaningful performance and educational experience. It has grown into the first exclusively non-top-band festival of its kind in Illinois.

That combination of teaching, program leadership and creating opportunities for music education beyond BPS101 is a big part of what makes Chris’s selection by his peers for the ILMEA District 9 presidency particularly notable.

Congratulations, Chris!
