Beautiful four blooms on my Blc. Phinyophan Boy ‘NN’. But wait one of these flowers is not like the others. Two columns and extra sepals??

Virus tested and it’s positive.

Anytime you see distorted sepals, petals, or lips be suspicious and test.

If you missed our meeting last night, here are the beauties displayed. Enjoy!

Don't forget our Tuesday, May 12, meeting at 7:00. We will be discussing "Bringing Orchids Outdoors". This is a Vanda Sansai Blue hanging out on my front porch for the neighbors to enjoy.

Bring your orchids and any questions you have.

You can get some great culture advice from the AOS website. They do a monthly greenhouse chat answering questions from the audience. You can send in photos ahead of time. https://www.aos.org/orchids/webinars

As a follow-up from our meeting, we discussed orchid care, and the best way to care for your orchids is to know their origin. If you have a hybrid, find the species it originated from.

You can tell if you have a hybrid if the name is capitalized - for example, Phalaenopsis KS Happy Eagle. Species will be lowercase - example: Phalaenopsis violeca.

Here's a few of the websites we discussed:
1. AOS Care Site - https://www.aos.org/orchid-care
2. Find the species of your hybrid - https://orchidroots.com/
3. Know the origin of the species - https://www.orchidspecies.com/

the world's largest single reference site on orchid species, how to grow, where they are found, what they are called, when they bloom

📣 BOS Orchid of the month 📣

Dendrobium Lindleyi. Beautifully grown by Lamar in her Elgin greenhouse. She keeps this in her greenhouse all year and quits watering in December. She resumes watering in March when she sees new growth. 👏 Well Done Lamar! 👏
