Last week, the Kiwanis Club of Batavia Geneva Area had the pleasure of hearing from one of our very own members, Kyle Donahue, Vice President of the Geneva Foundation for the Arts! 🎨🎭

Kyle shared more about the incredible work the organization is doing to support and enrich the arts throughout our community, from local performances and cultural events to opportunities that help make the arts accessible for all. We loved learning more about the impact they continue to make in Geneva and beyond!

Some people find Kiwanis later in life. Others grow up living the Kiwanis mission from the very beginning. 💙

In honor of May being Membership Month for we wanted to share about our latest Member Induction.

A lifelong Kiwanian, one of our newest members, Kris Isabelli first learned the value of service by helping alongside her father and his Kiwanis Club as a child. From there, her journey continued as a St. Charles Key Club member, a Circle K member in college, and later a Kiwanis Club member in the DC area.

When life brought her back to Illinois, it only felt right to continue that legacy by joining the Kiwanis Club of Batavia Geneva Area, sponsored by her father, Frank.

Service, leadership, and giving back have always been part of her story, and we’re grateful to have that passion helping make a difference in our community. 💙

This past weekend, members of the Kiwanis Club of Batavia Geneva Area were proud to volunteer alongside so many amazing community members for the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive hosted by the USPS!

We love being part of this incredible effort to support the Salvation Army Food Pantry serving the Tri-Cities area. The amount of food donated this year was absolutely AMAZING…honestly, we wouldn’t be surprised if it was a record-breaking year!

Seeing our community come together to help local families in need is such a powerful reminder of what can happen when people show up for one another.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, sorted, lifted, delivered, and made this day such a success!

💙 What a Meaningful Evening with Batavia Key Club 💙

We had the privilege of celebrating an incredible year at the Batavia Key Club Dinner and what a night it was!

One of the most special moments of the evening was honoring Marnie Heim, who is retiring at the end of this school year after 24 years as the dedicated Staff Advisor at Batavia High School. Her impact on generations of students through Key Club has been truly remarkable. She has inspired service, leadership, and compassion in so many and she will be deeply missed. 💙

We were also proud to celebrate our scholarship recipients:

✨ Lily Salzman – 2024/25 Kiwanis Scholarship
✨ Grace Nelson – 2025/26 Kiwanis Scholarship

The evening gave us a chance to once again recognize the club’s outstanding accomplishments this year, including their impressive awards at DCLC and the incredible number of volunteer hours contributed by these dedicated students.

We also took time to thank our outgoing BHS Key Club officers for their leadership and officially welcome the incoming board for the next school year, exciting things ahead!

A big thank you to our amazing committee for putting together such a special night (and for the vey-popular ice cream sundae bar 🍦 a perfect way to celebrate!).

We are so proud of these students and all they do to serve our community. 💙

💙 What an incredible night celebrating the next generation of leaders! 💙

This week, the Kiwanis Club of Batavia Geneva Area hosted our annual Geneva Key Club Appreciation Event at Geneva High School, and WOW!

This group continues to raise the bar!

From bringing home multiple awards at DCLC, to raising over $5,000 for The Thirst Project, to logging more than 800 volunteer hours, these students are truly making an impact.

A special congratulations to Morgan Smith, recipient of the $1,000 Kiwanis Scholarship, we can’t wait to see all you accomplish!

We are so proud of this amazing group and grateful for their incredible leader, advisor, and teacher Erin Cosky, whose dedication makes all the difference.

We were also inspired by a powerful story shared by Marissa Kirch of Coffee, Cones & Cabernet. Thank you for reminding us all of the impact one person can make.

Thank you to the parents and families who came out to support, and to our wonderful Kiwanians who helped make the night possible - especially Kris, Angela, and Janene for leading the committee, everyone who volunteered their time, and a HUGE thank you to Kristine for baking so many delicious treats! 🍪

And a special thank you to our generous prize donors for helping make the night even more fun: Chicken Salad Chick, Portillo's, and Batavia Creamery! 💙

🌷💙 Making Our Community Bloom! 💙🌷

This past Friday, April 17, our incredible Alice Gustafson Elementary K-Kids rolled up their sleeves for a fun and meaningful Spring Beautification Project! 🌼

From cleaning up outdoor spaces to planting and adding touches of color, these young leaders worked hard to bring new life and joy to the outside of their school. Their efforts not only made the campus look beautiful, but also created a welcoming space for students, staff, and families to enjoy.

We are so proud of our K-Kids for living out the Kiwanis mission of serving the community and showing that even the smallest hands can make a big impact! 💙

The Kiwanis Club of Batavia Geneva Area had another wonderful gathering today as we hosted our second meeting at The Holmstad in Batavia, our new location for our 12p meetings on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of each month.

We were honored to welcome guest speaker Rebecca Gunderson, Director of Development from Cal’s Angels, who shared more about the incredible impact their organization is making for children and families battling pediatric cancer.

From granting wishes to funding critical research, their mission continues to inspire.

Rebecca also highlighted several upcoming events where our community can get involved, including:

✨ A spring fundraiser on April 26 at Pollyanna Brewing
⛳ Golf outings on June 15 and August 17 at Elgin Country Club
✨ The Glow Walk on October 3 at Northwestern Medicine Field
…just to name a few opportunities to support this amazing cause!

We are especially proud of our ongoing partnership with Cal’s Angels through our annual signature project, Fun on the Farm, where families and children impacted by pediatric cancer enjoy a free, joy-filled fall day at Windy Acres. It’s a beautiful reminder of what community, compassion, and service are all about. 💙

🐰🥞 Serving Up Smiles at Bunny Breakfast! 🥞🐰

The Kiwanis Club of Batavia Geneva Area had such a great time volunteering at this year’s Bunny Breakfast with the Geneva Park District!

From flipping pancakes to serving families and sharing smiles, it was a morning full of fun, community, and a little Easter magic.

This special event brings families together for a delicious pancake breakfast, photos with the Bunny, and an exciting egg hunt filled with thousands of eggs for kids of all ages.

We love opportunities like this to give back, connect with our community, and support events that create lasting memories for local families.

The Batavia Key Club and Geneva Key Club had an incredible showing at the 2026 District Convention & Leadership Conference in Springfield!

Students from both schools brought home numerous awards recognizing their leadership, service, and dedication to helping children in our communities.

Highlights include:

⭐ Batavia Key Club earning 1st Place Annual Achievement Award (Platinum Level) and Distinguished Club status

⭐ Geneva Key Club taking 1st Place in Major Emphasis, Scrapbook, Digital Poster, and Video

⭐ Multiple Distinguished Officer awards recognizing outstanding student leadership

⭐ Several students surpassing 100 hours of community service

What an incredible night at our 40th Annual Spaghetti Dinner! 🍝

Thank you to everyone who came out this past Thursday to support the Kiwanis Club of Batavia Geneva Area and the nine student leadership programs we proudly support in Batavia and Geneva.

Seeing friends, families, students, and community members of all ages gathered together for such a fun (and delicious!) evening was truly special.
