In 2025, a total of 10,629 children were reported missing to police across New York State – 94% were reported as runaways. For over 140 years, FCA has operated Nassau Haven, Nassau County’s only 24/7 emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth.

FCA recently collaborated with our fellow providers on the Long Island Missing Child Rescue Operation. Over 100 professionals and 40 organizations joined forces on the three-day operation to locate 34 children and teens reported missing and connect them with relevant services. In addition to our emergency shelter, FCA offers case management, mental health resources, educational and vocational assistance, and clinical interventions designed to support runaway youth as they re-build their lives.

We are proud to stand together with our fellow service providers to bring children to safety. Thank you to NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services , NYS OCFS , National Child Protection Task Force , and New York State Police for leading this important initiative and our partners Child Advocacy Center of Nassau County, EAC Network , KeyBridge Smiles , and Nassau County Department of Social Services.

As Recovery month came to a close, our Hempstead Family Treatment and Recovery Center celebrated our clients at the Recovery Milestone Ceremony!

We recognized our clients for their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to recovery. Their journeys continue to inspire FCA’s clinicians and remind us that recovery is possible.

A special thank you to the Office of Hempstead Village Mayor Waylyn Hobbs Jr., Previti Catering, the African American Museum of Nassau County, Audrey Johnson & Dr. Donna Hylton, and most importantly, our clients who made the celebration so meaningful.
