On Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Heckscher State Park, East Islip, Project Purple will be hosting "Steps for a Cure 5k" In Honor of James DiGiovanna to support both the DiGiovanna Family on Long Island as well as Pancreatic Cancer Awareness.

This 5k Community Event will start at 9am. Volunteers are needed to assist with a wide variety of tasks on race day such as set-up, breakdown, water stations, crosswalk and more!

This opportunity would be perfect for any students in need of hours prior to the end of the school year, local giving organizations, run clubs etc.

Project Purple is asking volunteers to arrive at 7am and opportunities will run anywhere until 11am. See listing for more information, anyone interested can apply here and or shoot me an email, [email protected]!
