FOCOS founder Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II Oheneba Boachie-Adjei was honoured with the Healthcare and Medical Excellence Award at the Presidential Town Hall Meeting with the Ghanaian community from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, held in New York under the theme “The Reset Agenda.”

FOCOS Foundation Board Chair, Kwadwo received the award on his behalf. We celebrate this recognition with the FOCOS boards, staff, donors, partners, volunteers, patients, and supporters whose commitment has helped make this work possible.

In Oheneba Boachie-Adjei own words:
“Life is a gift to be cherished, and our talents and time are gifts to be shared. Having survived a near-death experience early in life, I resolved that whatever years were given to me would be devoted to service.

FOCOS became one expression of that commitment. Thousands have received care and new hope; hundreds of professionals have been trained; and through the dedication of our staff and more than 600 volunteers from around the world, one man’s dream became a shared dream and a living reality.

President John F. Kennedy reminded us: ‘Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.’ So my question to each of us is simple: What are we doing for Ghana?

Yesterday, I served as an orthopedic surgeon. Today, I serve as a traditional leader, championing socioeconomic development in Asanteman and Ghana. The form of service may change, but the duty to serve never ends.

As our Akan wisdom teaches, Etire ntee a, yɛnnyae kyɛ soa ~so long as the head remains, we shall continue to wear the hat of responsibility.

My profound gratitude goes to the FOCOS Boards in Ghana and the USA, our extraordinary staff, partners, patients, and more than 600 volunteers who gave their time and talents to this mission.

May development triumph over devastation and may service remain our pathway to happiness and human progress.

Before surgery, progress is already happening.

Meet 4-year-old Sedinam, who is currently undergoing Halo Gravity Traction at FOCOS Hospital as part of his preparation for surgery.

Before starting Halo Gravity Traction, Sedinam was unable to speak. Today, even before his surgery, we are seeing a remarkable change; Sedinam has regained his speech and is now very vocal, bubbly, and full of personality! 🥹❤️

And oh… did we tell you Sedinam wants to be a doctor when he grows up? 💙

We are also incredibly grateful to a benevolent individual donor who is sponsoring Sedinam’s surgery and helping make this next step in his journey possible.

Sedinam’s journey is just beginning, and we can't wait to see what comes next.
