October was a busy month at Habitat Frederick! 💙🏡

From kicking off a new homeownership project and celebrating an important milestone with a future homeowner to completing essential home repairs, connecting with our community, and celebrating Halloween at the ReStore, there's been a lot happening behind the scenes!

We also had opportunities to learn, collaborate, and strengthen the partnerships that help move our mission forward.

Swipe through for a look back at some of our favorite moments from October!
Thank you to the volunteers, homeowners, community partners, and supporters who continue to make this work possible.

Did you know? 🏡

Affordable homeownership can have an impact that reaches far beyond the walls of a house.

Research shows that homeowners who partner with Habitat report an average expected life satisfaction score of 8.06 out of 10, compared to 7.23 for renters and 7.16 for non-Habitat homeowners.

For many families, homeownership means more than financial stability. It means greater peace of mind, new opportunities, and the confidence to plan for the future.

At Habitat Frederick, we're proud to help make those opportunities possible right here in our community. 💙

Homeownership is about more than having a place to call your own. 🏡

It's also an opportunity to build financial stability and wealth over time.
Through affordable financing and zero-interest mortgages, Habitat helps homeowners build equity as they pay down their loans, creating a stronger financial foundation for themselves and their families.

Affordable homeownership doesn't just change where someone lives. It can change their financial future. 💙💚

It takes a team to turn a house into a home! 🏡💙 We're excited to recognize the local contractors helping bring our Poinsett Lane homeownership project to life!

Baker Tree Services, Bin There Dump That! Dumpster Diving Sales & More!, Holtzople Heating, Air Conditioning & Electrical Services, Olympus Electric, and TruKnowledge Contractors

With their hard work and expertise, we're transforming a donated 2-bedroom, 1-bath property into a 3-bedroom, 2-bath home for a future Habitat homeowner.

A big thank-you to the contractors partnering with us on this project! We're grateful to have such a dedicated team helping make affordable homeownership possible in Frederick County.

Meet Rebecca Greene, who has called a former two-room schoolhouse in Libertytown home for more than 50 years. 💙🏡

Her husband once attended school in the very same building, and together they spent decades caring for the home and its surrounding history, including a historic cemetery that Mrs. Greene still helps maintain today.

Over the years, Mrs. Greene and her family have worked to make the former schoolhouse their home. But recently, even simple things like taking a shower or walking the steep path to her driveway had become difficult and sometimes unsafe.

Through our Home Repair Program, a few critical repairs have made those everyday tasks easier and safer, giving Mrs. Greene greater confidence and independence in the her home.

And after more than five decades of memories, there's nowhere else she'd rather be. "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else," she shared. "I love it here." 💙

📖 Read her full story, "A Home Full of History. A Future Made Safer." on our website to learn more about her home's unique past and the repairs helping her stay there.
