Important Update from Banebow, Inc.

For years, Banebow, Inc. has made a meaningful impact in the lives of grieving families. That very impact—and the mission that has guided us—compels us to continually evaluate how best to serve our community.

Throughout our journey, we’ve been blessed to partner closely with The Refuge Center for Counseling, where Banebow’s therapy services have long been housed. As our work has evolved, it has become clear that we can extend our reach, maintain the highest quality of care, and operate more efficiently by making an intentional transition.

As of July 1, 2025, Banebow, Inc. will close its doors as an independent organization.

The most important news: our clients will continue receiving excellent care. The Refuge Center for Counseling will take over the provision of grief therapy, with many of the same trusted Banebow therapists now serving as part of The Refuge team.

In a meaningful gesture, The Refuge Center is establishing The Banebow Fund—a dedicated fund that will continue our mission by supporting grief therapy services for families across Middle Tennessee.
All contributions to The Banebow Fund are tax-deductible and will go directly to client care.

To give, go to www.therefugecenter.org
and check box “I would like to dedicate this donation” and add “The Banebow Fund” as the Tribute Name.

We are deeply grateful to be part of The Refuge Center’s incredible work—helping individuals and families find hope and healing through life’s most difficult seasons.

We look forward to continuing this mission as part of The Refuge Center for Counseling. We hope you’ll join us on this next chapter of the journey.

4 ways to create something meaningful. 🎵🎨

Creating something meaningful allows your love to live on in a tangible way. It’s not about perfection—it’s about finding a way to release the grief your heart holds and honoring your child's memory. Which one resonates with you the most?

“Give sorrow words; the grief that does not speak whispers the o’er-fraught heart and bids it break”

This quote reminds us that unspoken grief can weigh heavily on our hearts. Holding it in can overwhelm us, but we begin to release the pain by expressing our sorrow. Whether it’s through talking, writing, or creating, finding ways to give your grief a voice is an essential step toward healing.

You don’t have to do it alone—we’re here to listen. ♥️

Caring for Yourself This Holiday Season ✨🎄

This holiday season, it’s okay to feel a little differently. ❤️ Remember to fill up your cup, acknowledge your emotions, and ask for support when needed. The holidays can be especially difficult when there’s an empty seat at the table but taking care of your heart and mind is the most important gift you can give yourself.

To help grieving families through the holidays, would you consider pledging a monthly donation? From now through December 25, our first annual fundraiser The Giving Light will help provide cost-free grief therapy to bereaved parents. The holidays can amplify the pain of loss, but with your support, we can bring hope and healing. ♥️

With only two weeks left in The Giving Light campaign, we invite you to join our mission to provide compassionate care to parents after the loss of a child.

“Shortly after our 4 year old son, Bennett, unexpectedly passed away on June 8th, 2022 from invasive group A streptococcal infection, we found ourselves asking, ‘How are we going to make it through this?’ A family member referred us to Banebow, which changed the trajectory of how we navigated our grief journey. Banebow gave us the tools needed to survive our sorrow while incorporating and building upon our faith.”

Thank you, Rebecca and Tyler Schmid, for sharing your story of how Banebow gave you light! You can help more families receive the support of licensed therapists through our campaign The Giving Light! Sign up to become a monthly donor and give hope to grieving parents this holiday season!

“When we lost our 13 day old newborn daughter, Everleigh, on May 18, 2022, my husband and I found ourselves struggling not only with our faith, but also how to survive through that season of life. A friend of ours referred us out to Banebow shortly after and we reached out to their cost-free therapy services for parents like us. Without those services, my husband and I would not have been able to work through the hardest and darkest year of our lives. They helped us not only understand each other’s grief, but also strengthen our faith and help us survive." -Lexie & Chase Blanchard

Once upon a time… (as all stories containing handsome princes should begin) there was a boy… whose name was chosen because he had been “long-awaited”… and he did not disappoint.

He was bright and buoyant, with sturdy legs and sweet, almond-colored skin. His deep brown eyes told stories of great mischief, and his laugh…it was magical. And all of the people in all of the land took joy in him, for he was charming and brave, quick with a smile and passionate with his sugar kisses.

Then one Tuesday in August 2010, a day which dawned like any other, this sweet young prince fell prey to a villainous disease, one cloaked in such mystery that no one recognized it until is was far too late. They young prince fought valiantly, as princes do, but it seemed no charm, nor smile, nor sugar kiss from his mama could undo its deadly grip .
