🌅🐴 The magic at Saddle Up! begins long before the first rider arrives.

There’s something special about mornings on the farm. The sun rises, the horses graze peacefully, and a dedicated team is already hard at work.

Before the first therapy session or riding lesson begins, our early morning crew has cared for the herd and prepared the farm for another day of changing lives.

They are our unseen heroes. Often gone before our riders arrive, they may never witness the smiles, milestones, and moments of triumph they help make possible.

The support from our community for Chukkers for Charity Polo Match is incredibly special, and we are still in awe of the community support we received this past weekend!

Events like this do so much more than bring us together for a great day on the field—they directly fuel life-changing missions right here in our community. Every dollar raised empowers Saddle Up! to provide transformative equine-assisted activities and therapies for children and young adults with disabilities, and supports Rochelle Center in offering vital programs that enhance independence and skills for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. What an incredible 30th Annual Chukkers for Charity Polo Match! While the polo, traditions and beautiful setting make the day unforgettable, it’s the people behind the scenes who truly make Chukkers so special.

To our amazing co-chairs, our dedicated event committee, the crews who spent countless hours setting up and tearing down, our auction volunteers, check-in teams, hospitality helpers, runners, problem-solvers, and every person who simply asked, “What else can I do?” — THANK YOU.

You gave your time, your energy, your talents and probably a few sore muscles to make this milestone celebration a huge success. Chukkers has always been about community coming together to create an impact for Rochelle Center and Saddle Up! and year after year, our volunteers are the heartbeat of that community.

Today, we celebrate the dedicated volunteers, passionate instructors and amazing lesson assistants who pour their hearts into Saddle Up! every single day. Because of their hard work, our riders are empowered to grow, learn, and shine.

With temperatures rising again, many lessons this week shifted to unmounted work. Riders spent time learning about horse anatomy and breeds, enjoyed doing groundwork including leading and horsemanship, and also practiced horse bathing and healthcare.

Thanks to the volunteers and families for their flexibility this week! Keeping our horses and riders safe is always our top priority. We are grateful for everyone's patience and willingness to adapt.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Joe Dziezgowski as the new Saddle Up! Facilities Director.

Joe brings more than 20 years of leadership and operational management experience, having led teams, managed business operations, and driven organizational growth across healthcare, education, and entrepreneurial organizations. In addition, he has extensive experience working with horses and livestock and currently owns Liberty Creek Equine, where he provides chiropractic care for equine, bovine, and canine clients.

We are thrilled to have Joe at Saddle Up! and look forward to the experience, energy, and leadership he will bring to our facilities operations.
