The King's Divorce Behind the Balfour Declaration

Why does America stand behind Israel like no other nation on earth? The answer doesn't start in Washington — it starts five hundred years earlier, with a king desperate for a son and a legal loophole he found buried in the Hebrew Bible.

In this episode, author and historian Jonathan Immanuel joins Laurie Cardoza-Moore to discuss his new book, Britain, the Bible and Balfour, tracing the surprising, largely untold history of Christian Zionism — from Henry VIII's break with Rome, through the Puritans and the English Civil War, to the Balfour Declaration and the American Christians who quietly pushed the United States toward supporting a Jewish return to the Holy Land.

Along the way: how the Geneva Bible shaped a revolution, why a scientist was burned at the stake in Calvin's Geneva, and how Woodrow Wilson's reluctance to enter World War I gave way in part to American fascination with Jerusalem.

This conversation connects centuries of biblical conviction to the antisemitism rising today, and the urgent Christian responsibility to stand with Israel and the Jewish people. Laurie Cardoza-Moore is founder and president of Proclaiming Justice to the Nations (PJTN), a media ministry educating and mobilizing Christians worldwide to combat antisemitism and defend Israel's right to exist.

The Zionists Who Didn't Want the Balfour Declaration
The Central Zionist Organization actually feared the Balfour Declaration — worried it would make the movement look too openly pro-British. They were right to worry: when word got out, Ottoman authorities banished the Jews of Tel Aviv in retaliation. Author Jonathan Immanuel explains with Laurie Cardoza-Moore.

Why Does America Support Israel Like No Other Nation
America's bond with Israel isn't random — it's a Puritan-era English idea that England itself abandoned once it got in the way of empire, and that N**i Germany's alliance with the Arabs helped bury for good. Laurie Cardoza-Moore and author Jonathan Immanuel trace how America ended up the one nation that never let it go. Full episode, link in bio.

Why Many Spanish Families Don't Know They're Jewish:
For 500 years, entire families across Spain and Latin America have unknowingly carried a secret buried in their own bloodline — a secret their ancestors hid just to survive. When the Spanish Inquisition forced Jews to convert, flee, or die, thousands chose to hide in plain sight, disguising their identity so completely that generations later, their own descendants have no idea they are Jewish.
Former Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Fleur Hassan-Nahoum sits down with Laurie Cardoza-Moore to tell her own family's version of that story — Sephardic Jews who fled the Inquisition, resurfaced under British rule in Gibraltar, and generations later found their way home to Israel. Fleur explains how modern DNA testing is now cracking open that 500-year-old secret for millions of families, and why she believes the return of these long-hidden Jews to their identity — and in many cases, to Israel itself — may be the fulfillment of ancient biblical prophecy.
The conversation also turns to how that same ancient hatred that drove the Inquisition has resurfaced today, from October 7th to the halls of the United Nations, and why Fleur believes any nation that turns on its Jewish people ultimately turns on itself.
