We placed flags last night, in the rain. Thankful for the rain and those who volunteered to be in the rain to honor our 190 veterans. Thanks Jeff and Aaron Burr, Todd Bayles, John Evans, Scott Chaney, Keith Pinson, and I think I saw Alex and Taylor Barnes. I hope everyone has a nice Memorial Day weekend.

We made some repairs and did some cleanup this morning. Corner posts and signs have been straightened and replaced. The border fence has been straightened. We noticed the wind has damaged some vases. Please check yours. We appreciate the care you take as you visit the cemetery. We want to remind you to keep objects that you decorate with off the ground and remove any empty shepherds hooks. These both hinder the mowing and w**d eating. We do not want the mower to damage your decorations. Drive with care and please observe the directional signs. Thanks to John, Keith, Todd,Daniel, and Scott.

Last night we met to plan for our annual business meeting, Sunday May 24,2026 at 2:00pm in the fellowship hall of Sulphur Spring Baptist Church. Before the meeting, we will be busy. We scheduled a work day, flag day to honor our 190 veterans, and began planning the meeting agenda. We strive to keep the cemetery safe for visitors and our maintenance crew. Per our policy, any thing that is on the ground that interferes with mowing or w**d eating may be removed. Also, if there are shepherd hooks that are not being used( empty for a length of time), these may be removed.

We are aware that the cemetery is not as pristine as usual. The weather has been a huge factor in this. The grass is growing so fast and afternoon rains have caused problems with getting the mowing and w**deating done in a timely manner. We ask that you give the mowing crew grace and be assured we will be back to normal as soon as possible. That being said, our policy states “Any artificial designs and stands on the ground must be removed on or before March 15th of each year and remain off during mowing season. Any remaining after that date will be removed. “ We appreciate the ways that loved ones are honored, but ask that if you have anything on the ground that you remove it. We do not want anything damaged by the mowing or w**deating.

We met at the cemetery this morning to place the flags to honor our veterans. I want to remind those of you who are decorating your graves, the wind has been especially strong this spring. Try to tie things down and if your name is on a piece that blows away, someone will try to replace it. We will have a brief business meeting on Sunday May25 in the church fellowship hall at 1:00.
