👑 Summer has arrived at YWCA Northeast Indiana, and our shelter is buzzing with kiddos excited for a break from school!
Our Children’s Services team is making this season extra special for the kids in our care. This week, they hosted an empowering crown-decorating activity—giving every child the chance to feel like royalty and celebrate their unique strengths. Just look at those colorful crowns! 🌈✨

"My prologue started when I made the decision that I had dignity, worth, and value and deserved a life that reflected that. I left a 20-year abusive marriage and moved to a city where I had no family, but a handful of very faithful friends, and my five children. That first year felt impossible in so many ways, but with every small win, my faith in myself was restored. I began to remember who I was and that I liked her. I started to step into my self-identity, fully embrace my sexuality, and move forward into what I have dubbed “my big, beautiful life”."

- Colleen Connell (Executive Director, Mustard Seed Furniture Bank of Fort Wayne)

What is Persimmon Pride? Persimmon is the orange color of our YWCA brand. Internally, is more than a hashtag or mantra. It is a belief in the impact YWCA's team is having in our community. It's more than a saying. It is who we are and what we believe in. Happy anniversary, Jennifer! We love your

📹 As a continuation of our efforts for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we are partnering with Cinema Center to present "Victim/Suspect" on June 24 at 1:00 PM. This free event is open to the public and will include a virtual Q&A session with the two women the documentary is about, Dyanie Bermeo and Emma Mannion.

"Victim/Suspect" is a documentary that tells the story of two young women, Dyanie Bermeo and Emma Mannion, who tell the police they've been sexually assaulted. But, instead of finding justice, they are charged with false reporting, arrested, and even imprisoned by the system they believed would protect them.

"My path began simply enough. I wanted to be a preschool teacher. But somewhere along the way, I fell headlong into the fascinating science of how brains are built, and that changed everything. What started as a desire to work with young children became a conviction that making the world better has to start at the very beginning. Now I show up every day to do exactly that, for children and the families who love them."

-Allie Sutherland (Executive Director and Founder, Northeast Indiana Early Childhood Coalition)
