Lafayette Place Park is finished! Thank you to Dave Weadock and the Fort Wayne Parks Dept! Over $300,000 was spent. Our new playground is includes some handicap accessible equipment and a communication board to help children with language needs. We have new concrete pathways going across the park, tandem swings, new equipment for babies through age 12, and a full turf surface. Let’s play! 🛝😁

Playground construction is underway at Lafayette Place Park! New sidewalks were completed a few weeks ago and cross the park, connecting Glencoe Avenue and Sherwood Terrace, parallel to the basketball and tennis courts.

The Wayne Township Assessor's Office ·will be continuing cyclical reassessment this week in the Lafayette Place Addition neighborhood. Once every four years our office is required to physically inspect each property in the township.

All inspectors will be wearing a shirt with Wayne Township clearly marked and have their county ID badges with them. If you have any questions, please call the office at 260-449-7173.

Doing some spring cleaning? Consider participating in Electronics & Metal Recycling Day hosted by OmniSource, Habitat for Humanity and the Renaissance Point Neighborhood Association.

When: Sat May 2, 9am – 1pm

Where: empty lot across from the Renaissance YMCA on Creighton between Bowser & Holton

You may recycle mattresses, tires and more. All electronics items are accepted EXCEPT light bulbs or alkaline batteries.

We’re very excited to announce that construction has begun on our new, updated Lafayette Park! 🛝🌳 The new, enlarged playground will be moved to an area adjacent to the pavilion, making it convenient for families to watch their kids play on the new equipment. The entire playground will be on an outdoor turf surface, an upgrade from the old mulch. There will be extended swings, and separate age-based equipment areas, including interactive equipment and a playhouse. A new “Communication Board” will assist kids and parents in navigating the area. Paved sidewalks will be incorporated for ease in walking, as well as strollers or wheelchair use.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by mid-June.
