Lee County School Superintendent, Denise Carlin, spoke to our club members on Monday, highlighting aspects of th district's 6 key priorities. In addition to its progress in th areas of school safety and student achievemeent, she explaind how the district achieved zero teacher vacancies:
"Through an initiative titled Project Believe, the School District partnered directly with school leadership to reduce the number of vacancies from 575 to zero. As of January 23, 2026, all “575 Baseline” vacancies from the April 2025 cohort have been successfully filled or resolved."

In a commitment to transparency and student success, The School District of Lee County is proud to announce a significant milestone in its recruitment efforts: the successful closure of the "575 Baseline" of instructional vacancies identified in April of 2025.

Congratulations to Nalah Smith of Evangelical Christian School and Kael Seneca of Fort Myers High on their selection as the Overall Scholar Athletes of the Year at the 40th Annual Rotary Scholar Athlete Awards banquet! They each received a $5,000 scholarship provided by Scholarship Sponsor Joe Mitchell and Pool Pros.

Great night celebrating 42 amazing students at the 40th Annual Rotary Scholar Athlete Awards Banquet! Over $30,000 in awards were presented and we had a fantastic night recognizing their many achievements! Thank you to Pool Pros and all our sponsors and volunteers that made the event possible.

More photos from our Scholar Athlete Awards last night at the DoubleTree in Fort Myers... congratulations to all of these amazing seniors! Each received a $500 scholarship, and the two top award recipients received an additional $5,000 towards their college - shown with Rotary South President Blake Hampton and scholarship sponsor Joe Mitchell from Pool Pros. This is our club's 40th year of recognizing outstanding Lee County scholar-athletes.

More than $30,000 in scholarships were awarded tonight at Rotary South’s 40th Scholar Athlete Awards. Two seniors from each high school in Lee County were recognized, with the top male and female each receiving $5,000 scholarships: Kael Seneca from FMHS and Nalah Smith from ECS. Special thanks to all who made the event and scholarships possible especially title sponsor Pool Pros and the Mitchell family.

Monday at Rotary… Victor Mayeron was awarded Rotarian of the Month recognition (joining remotely from Canada), Merry Coffman and Heather Cross exchanged their red badges for blue, and we learned about Trailways Camps for adults with special needs.

All members are encouraged to be a part of Saturday’s District Assembly, even if you’re not in a leadership position.

Next Saturday isn’t about sitting in a room.
