6th Annual A2Z 5K – Race Day Info & Event Details!

Dear Runner / Walker,

Thank you so much for joining us—whether in-person or virtually—for the 6th Annual Alphas 2 Zetas 5K! We are incredibly excited to see you and truly appreciate your support and commitment to fighting for healthy mothers and babies, One Step at a Time!

To help ensure your race morning goes as smoothly as possible, here is everything you need to know for the event:

Schedule & Location Details
• 6:30 AM – 7:20 AM | Check-In & Registration

Head over to the basketball courts near the Berns Student Center. This is where you will check in and pick up your official race shirt.
• 7:20 AM | Welcome & Warm-Up

We will gather to officially welcome everyone and get moving with a quick pre-race warm-up!

• Post-Race | Refreshments

Once you cross the finish line, be sure to stick around and enjoy some well-deserved refreshments to refuel.

• 9:30 AM (Approx.) | Awards Ceremony
We will host a brief ceremony to celebrate our runners and wrap up an amazing morning.

Good to Know

• Restrooms: Facilities are located on the second floor of the Berns Student Center.

Goodwill my Dear Brothers,

​It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the transition of our esteemed Brother, Billy King, to the Omega Chapter. While we mourn his passing, we find comfort in knowing he has entered that place of sweet, eternal rest.

​Brother King’s life beautifully exemplified the Aims of our beloved Fraternity: Manly deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind. He walked among us as a pillar of dedication, wisdom, and unwavering fraternal commitment. While words cannot fully ease the weight of this loss, his legacy of service and fellowship remains permanently etched into the heart of our chapter.

​In this hour of grief, let us wrap Brother King’s family and loved ones in our collective prayers, offering them strength, peace, and our deepest condolences. Let us also draw closer to one another, uplifting the Brotherhood in the true spirit of Alpha.

​Though he now rests, his light continues to shine, inspiring generations of men yet to come. We celebrate an exceptionally well-lived life and a journey faithfully completed.

Statement from Board of Commissioners Chairman Kirk deViere:

It is with deep sadness that the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners learned of the passing of former Commissioner Billy R. King. Mr. King devoted himself to public service and to the people of Cumberland County, and his contributions left a lasting mark on this community.

On behalf of the Board and the residents we serve, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and all who knew him.

Onward and Upward: Celebrating Our 2026 Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Epsilon Rho Lambda Chapter Scholarship Recipients!

Congratulations to the 2026 Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Epsilon Rho Lambda Scholarship recipients and their families!

Today, seven exceptional young men were honored during the Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc., 2026 Scholarship Awards Presentation at the beautiful Cape Fear Botanical Garden in Fayetteville, NC.

Malcolm Dennis II, Solomon Gilchrist, Nassair Golding, Camden Graham, Sterling Kelly, Aaron Sanders, and Jordan Wiiliams.

Brothers Leon Price, Earl Jones, Billy Buckner, and Donald Porter were present to recognize students.

We are incredibly proud of these scholars and wish them the absolute best as they embark on their higher education journeys.
