In 1981, the WHO International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes set a gold standard to prevent commercial marketing practices which undermine breastfeeding. 45 years later, the WHO Code and subsequent WHA resolutions remain a cornerstone of lactation support and protect every family’s right to informed, unbiased care.

Receiving the Excellence in Innovation award at the North Dakota Public Health Association conference this year is a great honor for the Indigenous Association!
I would like to shout out my love and appreciation to Christyn and Brandon, who have been instrumental in their efforts! Christyn is on the front line checking messages and meeting up for delivery and Brandon is working hard behind the scenes ensuring that our infants have access to a safe alternative milk source. We are so grateful for the support of Rotary International, who provided the funds to launch this project. Alicia Belay also deserves recognition, her passion to support postpartum health has not gone unnoticed! This is such a team effort to make our community healthier.
We also must acknowledge the Minnesota Milk Bank for Babies and all the mothers that are able to donate milk back! Without them we wouldn’t have milk! 🩷🙌🏼🥳

I have been fortunate to absorb so much knowledge here in Chicago at HMBANA the International Donor Milk conference over the past two days. I appreciate the dedication of all the individuals working to ensure a safe alternative first food for babies, including both vulnerable infants and term infants needing extra support as maternal milk production increases.

So excited to meet Kimberly Seals Allers. The Big Letdown is one of my favorite lactation books. I may have brought a few extra copies for her to sign for my students.

Excellent 2 days of learning with this wonderful crew!
