Today is Milk Runs BIRTHDAY! 🎂And today we celebrated by delivering milk to our 69th milk run baby! 👶🏼Since milk run delivered its first run last year on 6/19/25… we have been on 97 milk runs. 🚙🏁

We named the Freezer housed at the Indigenous Association
Brr enNDan! ❄️

My inspiration for Milk Run came from when my grandson Paxton was a recipient of the MN milk bank down in Wyoming MN. So the freezer name takes on a special meaning, Paxtons dad’s name is BreNDan who also happens to be my FIRST born. We are so proud that Milk Run Bridge Bags is North Dakota’s FIRST program that provides families with access to banked Pasturized Donor Human Milk! 🩷🩵

Also a huge thanks to my very understanding husband Brian for delaying date night to deliver milk and take photos to celebrate milk run turning one! 1️⃣ Brain has also been now nicknamed the milkman as he too has delivered milk in a pinch to help families who need milk 💨 fast!

Lastly Christyn and I took some fun photos today! We will post soon!

*disclosure, the milk bottles for display are filled with salt, no bottles were injured in the photo stunts. 😉

It was an honor to attend the 2026 USBC conference and connect with all these lovely people who advocate to protect, support and promote breastfeeding. I want to personally thank the United States Breastfeeding Committee for all their work in organizing this amazing event and also recognizing (me 😉)with the Hamlin Taylor Award for my community leadership with the development of the NDSCS lactation program and Milk Run.

I can hardly believe Milk Run is turning one this week! Stay tuned we’re going to have some fun stuff coming! 🩷🎈🎊🎉👶🏼🥛

Responsive feeding means feeding your baby when they show signs of hunger, not by the clock. Here’s how it works:

✳️ Your baby communicates hunger before they cry.

✳️ You learn to watch for the early signs, like rooting, stirring, and bringing hands to their mouth.

✳️As you get to know your baby, you are able to catch those earlier, quieter signals, and offer the breast when your baby is still calm. (A calm baby is easier to latch!)

With responsive feeding, there are no rules about how often or how long to feed. It's a relationship: your baby leads, and you follow. Over time, that back-and-forth builds trust, supports your milk supply, and helps your baby thrive.

Baby-Friendly designated facilities support responsive feeding from the moment of delivery, so you and your baby can start learning to communicate from day one.

Today Milk Run took a little field trip to the Minnesota Milk Bank for Babies! Thank You Linda and your wonderful crew for making sure we have a safe alternative first food for the babies we serve.

I think in honor of milk run turning 1 this week we should name our freezer! Drop a comment to name the milk run freezer!

A busy week for Milk Run!

Candi is attending USBC’s 2026 Annual Conference and received the Hamlin-Taylor Community Impact Leader Award which honors Mona Lisa Hamlin and Emily Taylor and recognizes leaders who demonstrate meaningful community impact through their work to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding and human milk feeding for mothers and lactating parents.

Today, Christyn is at Midwest Kid’s Fest at Island Park in downtown Fargo, come make a pinwheel and say hi!

To top it all off, we’ve provided donor breastmilk to 5 families in the past week🤱🏽

In 1981, the WHO International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes set a gold standard to prevent commercial marketing practices which undermine breastfeeding. 45 years later, the WHO Code and subsequent WHA resolutions remain a cornerstone of lactation support and protect every family’s right to informed, unbiased care.
