Sollera Sollera offers crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, and education to all affected by DV/SA.

Sollera provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, trafficking/sexual exploitation and child sexual abuse in eastern North Dakota and west central Minnesota. We are committed to transforming our community’s response to violence and abuse to ensure healing for those who have been victimized and personal safety for all. Sollera was founded in 1977 when two local agencies – WomanAbuse, serving battered women, and the Rape Crisis Center, serving victims of sexual violence – merged to become Rape and Abuse Crisis Center and provide comprehensive, accessible services. In 2026, the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center name was retired and the agency is now Sollera. We are proud to be one of the earliest violence intervention centers in North Dakota and Minnesota.

This morning, Violence Free Minnesota marked the first day of Domestic Violence Awareness Month by releasing the 2025 Homicide Report: Relationship Abuse in Minnesota, honoring the Minnesotans who were taken from us in 2025 as a result of domestic violence.

Every Child Matters.

Orange Shirt Day honors Indigenous children who never returned home from residential and boarding schools, the survivors, and their families and communities.

Chosen for the time of year in which children were historically taken from their homes and their families to Indian residential schools, an opportunity to set the stage for anti-racism and anti-bullying policies for the coming school year.

Why orange? When Phyllis Webstad was six, she wore a new orange shirt, a gift from her grandmother, to her first day at residential school. It was taken from her, making her feel like she didn't matter. Her story inspired Orange Shirt Day and its message: Every Child Matters.

We recognize the harm that continues across generations and the strength of Indigenous communities. We all have a responsibility to listen, learn this history, and support the safety and dignity of Indigenous children and families. 🧡

What would it take to build a community where Sollera no longer needs to exist?
It’s a big question. And it’s one we think about often.

For nearly 50 years, you knew us as the R**e and Abuse Crisis Center. Today, we’re Sollera, and our work reaches beyond responding when harm happens.

We’re in schools and classrooms. We’re supporting victim-survivors. We’re working with families. We’re helping people take accountability for harmful behavior. And we’re working further upstream to prevent violence and abuse before it happens.

As we prepare for Harvest Moon Fling on October 9, we’re building a $25,000 Harvest Hope Match.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Elmer & Kaya Berg Giving Fund for awarding more than $10,000 to Sollera for victim assistance.

This funding gives us the flexibility to help with real, immediate needs for the people we support. Sometimes that might mean transportation, a safe place to stay, or another expense that can make an already difficult situation even harder.
Elmer Berg often said, “Fargo has been so good to me, and I want to give back what I can.”

We love that his and Kaya’s generosity is still being felt in our community today. Their children and grandchildren continue that tradition through the fund, supporting local organizations and causes their family has long cared about.

Thank you to the Berg family and the FM Area Foundation for trusting Sollera with this gift. We’re so thankful to have this kind of support behind the people we serve. 💛

Yesterday, Sollera Community Advocate, Heather, joined the Cass County Bar Association for an important conversation about domestic violence in our community.

Heather presented alongside Jason Van Horn from the State’s Attorney’s Office and Victoria Kinidaris from Legal Services of North Dakota. As members of the Domestic Violence Task Force, Heather, Jason, and Victoria shared perspectives from prosecution, legal services, and survivor advocacy.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to bring the survivor perspective into the room with judges, attorneys, and community partners. Conversations like these strengthen the way our community responds to domestic violence. Thank you Cass County Bar Association for having us!
