As summer comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to look back at some of the moments that made this season special across the Northern Division.
We welcomed new divisional leadership, served veterans at the VA Hospital, provided back-to-school supplies for thousands of kids, and helped young campers make memories at our summer camps.
Our Emergency Disaster Services teams were also there when communities needed help, responding to emergencies and providing support during difficult moments.
We celebrated Christmas in July with the Minnesota Twins, bringing joy to families while also reminding our community that need doesn’t take a summer break.
Each of these moments looks different, but they all point back to the same mission: being there for people when they need us most.
Thank you to our volunteers, donors, partners, and supporters who make this work possible. As summer comes to an end, the mission continues. The Salvation Army Northern Division will keep showing up for our communities across Minnesota and North Dakota, supporting families year-round.

As a new school year begins, we’re praying for every student, teacher, staff member, and family. May this year be filled with growth, friendship, wisdom, and new opportunities.
May God watch over each classroom, guide every step, calm every anxious heart, and bless this school year with safety, success, and joy.
Wishing all students and educators a safe and wonderful school year!

MISSION MOMENT - Sometimes, a helping hand can change the course of a family’s life.

A young couple facing homelessness was preparing to welcome their first child when their baby was born prematurely and spent two months in the hospital. With support from The Salvation Army, they were able to find a safe place to live and receive the financial assistance they needed to bring their baby home.

Because of generous people in our community, this family had a home waiting for them when their baby was finally ready to leave the hospital.

Your generosity can make moments like this possible. Every donation helps The Salvation Army provide hope, stability, and a helping hand to neighbors facing difficult circumstances.

Did You Know?

The Salvation Army wasn't always called The Salvation Army.

When William and Catherine Booth began their work in London's East End in 1865, it was known as the Christian Mission. In 1878, the organization adopted the name The Salvation Army after William Booth saw the phrase “volunteer army” in a document and changed it to “Salvation Army.”

More than 150 years later, the name remains as we serve communities around the world.
