Summer often means new routines, different caregivers, sleepovers, camps, and more time away from home. ☀️💙

A few important ways to help keep younger children safe this summer:
• Make sure children know the names of trusted adults they can go to for help
• Talk about body safety and personal boundaries in age-appropriate ways
• Remind kids they can say “no” and tell a safe adult if something makes them uncomfortable
• Check in regularly about where they are, who they’re with, and how they’re feeling
• Keep open conversations going, even during busy schedule changes

Simple conversations and trusted connections can go a long way in helping protect children and keep them safe.

A child should never have to tell their story over and over again. Forensic interviews provide a safe, neutral, trauma-informed space where a child can share their experience one time with a trained professional, helping reduce retraumatization while supporting the investigation.

At the RRCAC, we ensure children are heard, protected, and supported every step of the way.

A heartfelt thank you to the U.S. Attorney’s Office North Dakota for their generous donation to support children and families across our state! 💙 Recently, they donated crates of items for all four North Dakota Children’s Advocacy Centers, helping provide comfort, care, and support to the children and families we serve every day.

We are so grateful for your partnership and commitment to protecting and supporting kids in our communities!

95% of children who experience abuse know their offender.

Not a stranger. Someone they know. Someone they could have trusted. Someone in their circle.

That statistic is hard to hear, but it’s why child abuse prevention matters. Protecting children starts with awareness, open conversations, safe adults, and communities willing to speak up when something feels wrong.

Every child deserves to feel safe, believed, and protected.

Protecting children is everyone’s job. Every child deserves a safe and supportive environment. Parents, teachers, neighbors, and friends all play a role—staying aware, speaking up, and reporting concerns helps keep our communities safe. Together, we can prevent abuse and ensure every child’s right to a safe childhood. Thank you to our community, partners, and supporters for helping children feel safe, valued, and heard every day!
