🔥 Cooks Needed for Wing Cook Off - Swing Barrel Brewing & Heroes Compass! 🔥

We are looking for 4 more cooks/teams to join our upcoming Heroes Compass Wing Cookoff on June 13th 3PM-7PM!

What is this for? It’s to support and give back to our local first responders and military members. 🇺🇸❤️

🍗 What we’re looking for:

* Individuals or teams interested in competing in a friendly wing cookoff
* Passion for cooking and community involvement
* Willingness to help make a great event for a great cause

💙 All proceeds benefit local heroes who serve our community every day.

Veterans Honor Flight of ND/MN went to Washington D.C. this week. Heroes Compass said "thank you" with a care package for every veteran. Each care package contained carefully curated items aimed at adding value to their journeys like...

"Danelle Wolnik is MSUM's assistant veterans resource outreach director. Danelle, retired Master Sergeant, E8, served many roles in her 24 years in the North Dakota Army National Guard with most of her career in Human Resources. While in the NDARNG, she deployed to Kuwait/Iraq and Kosovo, also having trained in Germany, Romania, and Alaska along with several U.S. states. Outside of her military career, she is married with three children, ages 8, 11 and 12. Danelle goes above and beyond for the Moorhead military-connected students and her coworkers. She is extremely humble and deserves to be recognized, she also loves a good beer."

"I didn't know anyone still cared about us."

Those were the words of Marlin, a Vietnam veteran living alone in rural North Dakota. Multiple back surgeries. A walker. And a mattress that had been robbing him of sleep for who knows how long.

A member of Rice-Deede Post 205 American Legion reached out to us on his behalf. We connected with Zac at Mattress Firm North Dakota in Bismarck, who stepped up in a big way and helped us put an $1,800 bed in his home for a fraction of the cost.

Marlin choked up when it arrived. His daughter-in-law said, "The VA just takes so long to help, this is great."

That is why the Heroes Fund exists. To move fast when someone has been waiting too long.

Thank you to Jake Ryun and Post 205 for making sure Marlin wasn't invisible. And thank you to Mattress Firm Bismarck for showing up for a veteran who deserved it.
