Fargo Moorhead Trailbuilders Building, Riding & Promoting natural surface recreational trails for hiking & biking in Fargo Moorhead. Trail Condition Updates: https://trailbot.com/

In 2010 a group of off road cyclists got together and decided it was time for a cohesive and enjoyable off road trail in the Fargo Moorhead area. Hard work, w**d whacking, log removal and lots of bug spray all led to a 2.5 mile singletrack trail at MB Johnson Park in Moorhead MN. Word spread and since it's completion in July of 2010, it has gained much attention from the local biking community as

well as regular park visitors. The first ever Red River Bicycle Festival with Cyclocross, Mountain Bike, and Races in addition to Bike Polo and just having fun with bikes was held in September. The response to this effort was overwhelmingly positive and has spurred numerous conversations to continue efforts to establish and promote the use of off road recrerational trails for biking, hiking, and just getting out doors. Initially it was just an underground movement, but after so many offers to help and eagerness by individuals to expand, it was evident an organization should be formed to unify inviduals and create a cohesive game plan moving forward. We hope to work closely with the cities of Fargo, Moorhead, and surrounding communities to identify and establish potential locations for off road trails. This is a new so of course there will be lots of learning, but we hope it will continue on to help promote these types of activities for everyone to enjoy!

Last week we had access to a MT100 Mini Track Loader that helped us make quick work of adding jumps to help riders in our community to progress and develop jumping and bike handling skills for even larger jump lines coming. Watch us build community through trails!

With our wet weather we felt it was necessary to share the massive amount of progress achieved by volunteers this past week. Trail work Wednesday was only part of our efforts. Before and after the event at M.B. Johnson Park Trails volunteers staged crushed concrete on our newest berm and added an erosion control rock garden. Thanks for the material! During the TWW volunteers hand built the second half of the Totem Bowl chicane berm. Resulting work was amazing. Stay tuned for part two that shows the mechanized side of this past week’s efforts. The rains from Friday and today should allow this work to set up beautifully and all of our trails will need tires the rest of the Memorial Day weekend so that they continue to ride beautifully. Check the for updates on trail openings and conditions. Enjoy the ride!

This week trail work Wednesday takes aim at MB Johnson Park! Those that have been out riding it lately will notice the sweet Totem Bowl which is an awesome chicane turn. Well used McLeods, shovels, and rakes to build up the second half of the Totem Bowl and also bench and fine tune the exit. The more the merrier! 6pm at the MB Johnson trail head, you can’t miss it!

Our volunteers keep plussing our trails! There’s something for everyone at our trails. There’s an awesome blue line addition where new double and table top jumps were added. This section we can see being sessioned quite a bit, so a loop directly into the top of the line has been added. Just after the new blue line additions, you’ll pedal over a ridge and into the new totem bowl section that gives you an awesome flowing chicane turn to carry speed through. On the trail addition side of things, a new “Whitetail Flats” addition has been created just after you cross the bridge from MBiligans. It adds distance to the trails and some visual interest. It’s in the early phases and will need tires. Lots of fun stuff executed, and more in the works so keep your eyes peeled for the next Trail Work Wednesday! Enjoy the ride! We wanted to provide an update that our partner has closed the Lions parking lot and trailhead for the Iwen North segment of the trail system. The closure is in place as the Parks Dept. completes a parking lot update and crushed gravel hiking trail installation. We’re actively working with the Parks Dept. to sorry out the duration and our ability to create trail reroutes. The good news? We still have over eight miles of trail to enjoy during this closure! In the meantime park at the Convent Landing to enjoy Iwen South, or on River Drive and 40th Ave S to access Tower, South River Prairie and Lemke trail segments! As a reminder, our trail bosses regularly update the with trail conditions and any pertinent news.
