The National Native Harm Reduction Summit is coming to Mahnomen September 1–3 and is an important learning opportunity for providers and community partners across our region.

The summit covers a wide range of topics related to substance use, harm reduction, health, housing, and community wellbeing, with presentations featuring research, emerging practices, and lessons from communities across the country. At its core is an approach grounded in meeting people who use substances with dignity and care.

The summit also offers an important opportunity to learn from Native leaders and communities and to deepen cultural understanding and connection.

We encourage Coalition members and partners whose work intersects with homelessness, substance use, behavioral health, healthcare, or community services to consider attending! 💫

🎆 Holiday Office Closure

In observance of Independence Day, the FM Coalition to End Homelessness office will be closed on Friday, July 3. We will return to normal business hours on Monday, July 6.

As our community celebrates this holiday weekend, we're grateful for the many partners, members, volunteers, and neighbors who work every day to ensure more people have access to something we all deserve: a safe, stable place to call home.

We hope you have a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July, and if you're celebrating, we encourage you to take a moment to look out for one another. Building a stronger community starts with caring for our neighbors.

HUD's latest homelessness funding notice has reignited familiar debates across the country about Housing First, recovery, accountability, and public safety.

At the same time, Fargo-Moorhead is entering another local election season. While federal policy influences how communities respond to homelessness, many of the decisions that shape homelessness outcomes are made much closer to home.

In a new article, FM Coalition to End Homelessness Executive Director Chandler Esslinger reflects on a question that has increasingly shaped our work: What determines whether communities can actually reduce homelessness at scale?

The piece explores the role of housing, service capacity, community accountability, and the local decisions that influence what is possible for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
