Juneteenth marks the day (June 19, 1865) when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally learned of their freedom, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is a reminder that freedom is a journey, not a destination. Let’s continue to strive for a more equitable world, while honoring the past, celebrating the present and building a better future for all ❤️🖤💚💛

Our business office, Community Kitchen and Food Pantry will be closed today in recognition of Juneteenth National Independence Day. Please do not leave donations unattended when our office and services are closed. We will resume normal operations on Monday, June 22. Donations will be accepted once reopened. Thank you.

Gather some family or friends to make a dinner together for the Community Kitchen this summer! We are in need of a volunteer (or group) to make a full dinner to serve 50 people in our Community Kitchen on July 28, August 14, 18 & 25 and September 4, 10 & 15.

🙏🏽 We are especially grateful to 1580 Post Rd Fairfield CT for signing up for the June 23 meal, as well as the many individuals who are also covering a meal in June and July. For many of our guests, this will be the only meal they eat that day. Sign up here: https://bit.ly/oh-summer-dinners-2026.

These are great opportunities to gather your kids, grandkids, book club, friends, neighbors or sports team to come together and make a meal (or assign each person a component!). It’s fun and easy! Overview of what we need for the meal:

🥘 Meal components to feed 50 people and be fully cooked upon drop off

⬇️ Drop off at our Community Kitchen at 50 Nichols Street, Fairfield between 9:30am-3:00pm on day of assigned date

🥗 Meal components include a protein main course, a starch, a vegetable, salad & dressing

🍪Dessert is optional but always welcome!

🧃Beverages (gallon jugs of tea & lemonade are always welcome)

Thank you for helping feed our neighbors in need this summer and throughout the year! 🙏🏽

🚗 Sunday, June 7 was a beautiful day to enjoy the Connecticut Seaport Car Club's 10th Annual Antique and Classic Car Show! 🚙 Fun for the whole family, many friends of all ages came out to enjoy the cars, entertainment and more! There were 200 show cars covering all eras through 1911 to 2025, and even one car that was celebrating its 100th birthday, a 1926 Ford Model T Coupe. We were excited to introduce our new Executive Director, Fernando Muñiz, to the community! We are especially grateful to have once again been the beneficiary of this spectacular event, and thank the CT Seaport Car Club for its continued support. Congratulations to all who were received award trophies!

Thank you to the Town of Fairfield, CT, Fairfield Police Department - Connecticut, Fairfield Community Services, Fairfield Ludlowe High School, Trinity Solar and event sponsors Joe Pramer and Rick Krollman of Morgan Stanley Fairfield, Perfect Smiles of Fairfield - Caroline Shenker DMD and Auto Sales & Service of Stratford, plus media sponsors ConnectFairfield CT, Fairfield HamletHub and CT Cruise News. And of course, thank you to Jukebox45 Show Band, the car entrants and the spectators. We are grateful to all of you as together, we continue to fight to end hunger and homelessness, one person at a time.

If you're out and about shopping at the Stop & Shop on Kings Hwy Cutoff on Saturday, please consider making a donation to Operation Hope's Pantry! The Columbia University Club of Fairfield County (CUCFC) is generously volunteering their time to collect donations to help stock our pantry. The timing is especially helpful as we lead up to the summer months, when our shelves tend to be the emptiest all year long. Thank you CUCFC, and all donors! 🫶

Thanks to the dedication of volunteers from “Refill the Pantry,” a collaboration of five local churches, its food drive held May 16 at the Stop & Shop on Kings Hwy Cutoff for Operation Hope’s Pantry was a tremendous success. We are indebted to Refill the Pantry and its volunteers, all donors, Stop & Shop on Kings Hwy Cutoff, and Thrivent for continuing to help our neighbors in need.

On May 16, the group collected an impressive 2,600 lbs of groceries and also raised $1,050, providing vital support for families facing food insecurity in our community. Thank you to the community for responding with incredible generosity! Save the date for October 10 at the Stop & Shop on Kings Hwy Cutoff for the next “Refill the Pantry” drive for Operation Hope!

Now in its fifth year, Refill the Pantry is spearheaded by the First Presbyterian Church (Fairfield), Our Saviour’s Lutheran (Fairfield), Holy Cross Lutheran (Trumbull), Grace Lutheran (Stratford), and Good Shepherd Lutheran (Monroe). This year, the initiative will conduct 19 collection events to support 11 local food pantries, ensuring food assistance reaches families in Bridgeport, Brookfield, Fairfield, Monroe, Shelton, Stratford, Trumbull and Westport. https://www.refillthepantry.org. Refill the Pantry is sponsored by Thrivent, a Minneapolis-based Fortune 500 financial services company.
