Happy 104th chartering anniversary to WVU! The chapter closed in 1959, but thanks to some innovative approaches to promotion and recruitment, they were re-founded in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. We’re sad to report the passing of Bradley Part (UCLA ‘58) on May 8. Bradley was a proud member of the “Lunch Bunch,” a group of CA Upsilon alumni from the 50s and 60s who met monthly to stay connected long after their chapter closed. His obituary said, “socializing and traveling with his fraternity brothers from Pi Lambda Phi” was among his favorite activities.

As we gather with loved ones this , let’s pause to honor the Pilam brothers and all veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice. During WWII, more than a third of our US and Canadian brothers served—many never returned. The October 1945 Tripod honored our “Gold Star” brothers who gave their lives for our country. We remember them today.

Arthur Garfield Hays (Columbia 1902) was an American lawyer and champion of civil liberties issues. He is best known as a co-founder and general counsel of the American Civil Liberties Union, and for participating in notable cases including the Sacco and Vanzetti and Scopes Monkey trials, on which the movie “Inherit the Wind” was based. He also served as Supreme Rex of Pi Lambda Phi.
