One small temporary act can save a life. ❄️ A major winter storm is on the way, and it's going to be brutal — we're talking over 10 inches of snow, ice, winter storm is on the way, and it's going to be brutal — we're talking over 10 inches of snow, ice, and temperatures that dip below zero. If you have pets who usually stay outside, now is the time to bring them in. That sweet stray you see around your neighborhood, or those kittens without a home — they don’t stand a chance in this weather. Even dogs that are used to living outdoors are at serious risk. Make a plan now.
If you can, make a safe spot for them inside your house. Your bedroom, a bathroom, even an old dog crate will do. If you don’t have supplies, post on Facebook or ask your neighbors — someone might have a crate or pet supplies you can use. Anything is better than leaving these animals outside to face the storm.
For feral cats or animals you can’t handle, don’t use blankets or towels outside — they’ll just freeze and make things worse. Instead, fill a plastic tote or sheltered spot with straw, which stays dry and warm even in the cold. That simple step could mean the difference between life and death.
Please do what you can this weekend.
