Being the Blessing

Being the Blessing We are a non-profit 501c3 community of spiritually motivated people making a difference in the world by Being a Blessing in our day to day lives.

Together, we can make a difference by being a blessing for others. Be the Blessing could be a place for you. We bring people together who want to be part of something bigger than themselves. We actively seek a more just, compassionate, and humane world, especially in regard to the poorest and most vulnerable people. We foster and nourish the practice of daily acts of kindness and compassion as int

egral to how people live their lives; we do this by inspiring, educating, and calling people to act individually and collectively. Be the Blessing is a place to connect with others who, like you, want to make a difference in the world. You can spread goodness even when the world’s problems seem very big. We bring people and projects together that have made a real difference. Would you benefit from being part of that community?

Suddenly, a lot of folks are taking the Church’s social teaching seriously. The shift is noticeable even to those outside the Church.

On the feast of St. Augustine, Pope Leo XIV received a delegation of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul from the United States. The Society, founded in 1833, seeks the holiness of its members through personal service to the poor and forms part of the wider Vincentian Family.

The Holy Father thanked them for their devoted work across the United States, saying that by freely offering their God-given gifts they give eloquent witness to the faith and to the building up of the Kingdom of God.

He urged them first to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, so that He Himself may guide their service to those most in need. Recalling their patron, Pope Leo said St. Vincent de Paul showed that prayer and social justice “are not merely complementary but in fact are inseparable.”

He then pointed to St. Augustine’s teaching that care for the poor is centered on Christ, and that God is always generous to those who serve them.

“We therefore believe that caring for others, when motivated by love, not only helps those in need, but also opens the heart of the giver to God’s grace.”

The Pope asked the Vincentians to offer their time generously. By serving Christ in the poor, he said, God’s grace will steadily purify their hearts and minds, and they will more readily recognize Christ in their neighbor — both in those they serve and in those with whom they work. He closed with warm greetings to every member of the Society and to all whom they assist.

On the feast of the Doctor of Grace, an Augustinian pope reminded a society of charity that the poor are not a side project. They are the place where prayer becomes love in action.

St. Augustine, pray for us. Amen! 🙏
