SANE SART SANE-SART is a nonprofit serving Napa, Solano, Marin, and Sonoma counties with 24/7 crisis response and care for victims.

Services include forensic exams/interviews, emergency shelter for human trafficking victims, case management, mental health services. SANE-SART is a nonprofit providing 24/7 compassionate care to victims of violence across Napa, Marin, Sonoma, and Solano counties. Our around-the-clock response ensures timely evidence collection and supports stronger outcomes in the justice system. We also offer child forensic interviews, intensive case management, and emergency shelter for human trafficking survivors. All victims are connected to free mental health services through our Trauma Recovery Center—because healing starts with support.

You may notice a little change to our page today! We’ve turned our cover and profile photo purple in recognition of Wear Purple Day (Tomorrow 10/15) and Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

But this is about more than changing our colors.

It’s about standing in solidarity with survivors of domestic violence, raising awareness, and reminding our community that everyone deserves safety, dignity, and support.

Not all abuse is physical. And not all wounds are visible.

Abuse can look like:
💜 Constant criticism that slowly chips away at someone's confidence.
💜 Controlling who someone sees, where they go, or how they spend their money.
💜 Manipulation, threats, or intimidation used to create fear.
💜 Monitoring phones, messages, or social media.
💜 Gaslighting that causes someone to question their own memories, feelings, or reality.
💜 Isolation from friends, family, and support systems.

These behaviors may not leave visible marks, but their impact can be profound and long-lasting.

Emotional, psychological, financial, and verbal abuse are real forms of abuse. And no one should have to prove their pain through physical injuries to be believed, supported, or taken seriously.

At SANE-SART, we know that abuse doesn't always look the way people expect it to. That's why we believe in listening without judgment, recognizing the signs, and meeting survivors with compassion, dignity, and support.

If something doesn't feel right in your relationship, you deserve to be heard. You don't have to wait for things to become physical to reach out for help.

Love should never come with fear, intimidation, or a list of rules about who you can see, where you can go, or what you can do.

Controlling behavior is often disguised as love, protection, or concern. But there's a difference between someone caring about you and someone trying to control you.

Healthy relationships are built on trust, respect, independence, and choice. Not power and control.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we're starting conversations about the behaviors that too often go unrecognized as abuse.

Because recognizing the signs is the first step toward understanding them.

Leaving is not the end of the story. Sometimes, it’s the beginning of an entirely new chapter of healing.

During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we talk about recognizing abuse, speaking up and helping survivors find safety. But we also need to talk about what happens after.

The forensic care.
The advocate who stays beside them.
The safety planning.
The counseling.
The case management.
The help navigating what comes next.

At SANE-SART, our work is about being there for survivors through all of it. Because support shouldn’t disappear once the immediate crisis has passed.

Tomorrow is Live Solano Give Solano.

It’s an opportunity for our community to help make this work possible and ensure survivors of domestic violence and other forms of trauma have somewhere to turn when they need it most.

SANE-SART was proud to join VEST, advocates and community partners at Kaiser Fairfield in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

We were especially honored to stand alongside VEST’s Executive Director, who, as Ms. Solano County, chose Domestic Violence Awareness & Survivor Empowerment as her platform. Using that platform to educate, advocate and amplify the voices of survivors is a powerful reminder of what can happen when members of our community choose to turn awareness into action.

Domestic violence doesn’t always end when someone leaves an abusive relationship. Its impact can continue emotionally, physically, financially and in a survivor’s sense of safety long afterward. That is why trauma-informed care, advocacy and long-term support matter.

And it’s why you’ll continue to see SANE-SART out in the community. These conversations matter. These partnerships matter. Making sure survivors know where they can turn matters.

Thank you to VEST and Kaiser Fairfield for bringing our community together around an issue that deserves our attention not only during October, but every day.
