We could not be prouder of the Fairfield-Suisun Adult School Certified Nursing Assistant Program graduates! With gratitude to our many donors, it was our honor to provide our Fund -A-Need $32,000 scholarship to students in this course. This widely respected program, known for its high success rate on the CNA certification exam, is a 250 hr. course that provides training in fundamental nursing care; it includes comprehensive classroom instruction (6 weeks), supervised clinical training (5 weeks) in local Long Term Care Facilities and is approved by the California Department of Public Health. Past President Dorothy Andrews was recently honored with a fourth-level Fellowship award from our Founder Region. The Soroptimist Fellowship program advances the Soroptimist mission by awarding $10,000 cash grants for women in the last phase of their doctoral degree. Our November Soroptimist of the Month was announced at our business meeting by Carole Lane, our October recipient. She chose our beloved member Gretchen Shilts, 91 years young, for Gretchen’s decades of serving our community, ranging from her election as a school board trustee to her most recent work supporting patients and families as a hospital chaplain. Congratulations, Gretchen—we all love you!❤️

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an international health campaign that's held every October. The month aims to promote screening and reduce the risk of the disease, which affects 2.4 million women worldwide. Known best for its pink theme color, the month features a number of campaigns and programs. Soroptimist club members and friends from Central Solano County, Vallejo and Vacaville clubs met at Thompson’s Corner Saloon to enjoy fellowship and pin bras to the ceiling (a local tradition) to remind women and men to schedule their breast exams. Fun was had by all!
