Thank you, Chef José Andrés, for sharing ECOLIFE Conservation’s work and harnessing the power of food to change the world.

Bill built this massive single-slab table to bring people from all walks of life together—a philosophy shared by José Andrés in his Substack, Longer Tables. “Every day we should be thinking about how to make room at the table,” José says, “pulling up as many chairs as are needed so everyone has a seat.”

That’s what we do at ECOLIFE. We collaborate with indigenous communities and change-makers to bring people, culture, health, and conservation together around food: growing it, cooking it, and sharing access to it sustainably.

We're grateful to see our story shared with this vibrant community of foodies. Here's to building longer tables, stronger communities, and a healthier future together for people and the planet.

6 years later… and this Patsari stove still looks almost brand new. 🔥🏡

Virginia García’s stove continues operating efficiently thanks to preventive maintenance and ongoing technical support: regular cleaning of combustion chambers and smoke ducts, soot removal from chimney pipes, and replacement of worn components such as the main griddle.

Because an efficient stove doesn’t just need to be built well.
It also needs long-term follow-up, maintenance, and care to preserve its performance, reduce smoke exposure, and extend its lifespan.

This reel is a preview of a new episode from our Sabores de Comal series, where Virginia prepares mole de olla using a 6-year-old Patsari stove. 🍲🔥

Soon, we’ll share more about “Return to the (H)earth,” a campaign focused on strengthening technical support and long-term maintenance for Proyecto Tsasú in the communities surrounding the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve. 🦋🌲

She has cooked in smoke her entire life.

Her eyes burn, her throat hurts, and every day she fears getting sick just for feeding her family.

In the communities surrounding the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, thousands of women live this same reality.
Children breathe that same smoke, get too close to the fire and, sometimes, they get burned.

No mother should risk her life to cook.
No child should grow up breathing smoke and playing next to open flames.

Through Brick by Brick, we are building 1,400 Patsari stoves, keeping the tradition of cooking with wood alive, but without the smoke that harms families and puts lives at risk.

🧱 Each brick costs only $6 MXN ($0.38 USD), and each stove means a life.
