Happy Liberation Day! Today, we commemorate the day 161 years ago that the last enslaved Black people in the United States were declared free. While we celebrate, we acknowledge the ongoing fight for justice, fairness, and equity across the country and the world.

Interfaith is honored to recognize Juneteenth, provide our teams with an opportunity to participate in community and cultural celebrations, and self-reflect on the importance of this holiday.

Our offices will be closed on Friday, June 19th. We will resume normal business hours on Monday, June 22nd.

A Night of Poetry! Last Thursday, Glassless Minds, a local nonprofit that builds community through poetry and expressive arts, held a poetry workshop at our Oceanside Navigation Center for all residents. Their workshop focused on gratitude, strength, and resilience, inviting residents to explore their own stories and find common ground. They provided each attendee their own notebook so they can practice what they learned beyond the class.

Thank you, Glassless Minds, for partnering with us and reminding our residents that they are seen, heard, and not alone.

Care in Action! Nick B. is the embodiment of helping people help themselves, whether it’s staff or clients. Nick joined Interfaith just over 90 days ago and has already made a tremendous impact. When asked why he works at Interfaith, he said, “It's an amazing atmosphere and it is important to me that people get the assistance they need.”

The Residential Behavioral Health Aide (RBHA) position at the Turk & Lillian Recuperative Care Center is the integral backbone and support system for the clients we serve.

RBHAs, like Nick B., work on providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that promotes client well-being and progress towards stabilization and independence. This unique role has the ability to build rapport with clients while providing coordination of services, whether on-site at Turk Center or with outside providers.

RBHAs are trained to support clients in transportation needs, crisis intervention, and the day-to-day tasks that keep the Turk Center operating smoothly twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.

An Evening at Interfaith! Thank you to Trinity Episcopal Church for serving dinner at our Turk Recuperative Care Center. Trinity serves dinner on the 2nd and last Thursday of each month, not only to nourish the community but to build deeper connections with our clients. Their consistent presence at Turk makes a meaningful difference.

Looking for a fun, engaging group activity that gives back to the community? Consider serving dinner at our Turk Center! Groups of 2 to 6 people are welcome to sign up. After dinner, we encourage your group to bring creativity and energy to engage and entertain our residents, whether that is a DIY project, a board game night, or anything in between. Your only limit is your imagination.

Neighbor to Neighbor! San Diego Gas & Electric is a powerful partner of Interfaith. Through employee donations and shareholder dollars, your local power company comes through for the community. If you or someone you know is facing a utility shut-off, customers can come into Interfaith during basic needs hours to seek assistance.

Through this program, Interfaith can help cover partial or full payments, so clients don’t have to choose between paying their bills or buying groceries. When clients come to the program, they often express their gratitude toward Interfaith and the SDG&E liaison, who are very communicative and helpful during this stressful time.

Thank you, SDG&E, for your commitment to the people we serve! If you are in need of services, stop by our 550 W Washington location in Escondido during basic needs services Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 - 10 a.m.
