💜 Thank you to the San Diego Foundation and our fellow Community Scholars Initiative (CSI) organizations and leaders for investing in college access and success for our youth!

Thanks to this support, Kimberly King, A Step Beyond’s Academic Manager, attended the National College Attainment Network (NCAN) Summit this past month to connect with leaders, share strategies, and explore new ways to support students on their college journeys.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn, collaborate, and bring new ideas back to our ASB community as we help our students thrive in college and beyond! 🎓✨

💜 Why We Dance. Why It Matters.

Every dancer has a story. For our youth, dance is more than movement—it’s a place to find confidence, discover their voice, build friendships, embrace their culture, and imagine what’s possible.

In their own words, our young artists share why they choose to dance and how it has shaped who they are becoming. We are proud to celebrate their voices, their growth, and the power of dance to transform lives. ✨

🔥 Our RISE Performance Group at the Fire Summit 🔥

Last Night, our RISE Performance Group had the honor of sharing their artistry at the Fire Summit—using dance to bring people together.

We are deeply grateful to the San Diego Natural History Museum, PureLand Project, and Elizabeth Swallow for creating such a meaningful experience for our young people and inviting them into an important conversation about fire safety, preparedness, and our shared responsibility to protect the places we call home.

When young people are given a stage, they don’t just perform—they listen, learn, lead, and move us forward together.

Thank you for giving our youth a place to be heard. ❤️🔥

WE ARE A STEP BEYOND.

We are a community of young people who dance, learn, grow, and dream big.

For 10 years, we grow together—
from our first steps in dance
to the stage, the classroom, and beyond.

Dance is our method.
It teaches us to be present.
To work hard.
To take responsibility.
To be kind.
To use our voice.
To dream big.

At ASB, we don’t just learn to dance.

We learn who we are—and who we can become.

GO BEYOND.

✨ Welcome to A Step Beyond! ✨

We are SO excited to welcome our newest cohort of nearly 50 young people into the A Step Beyond family! 💙

This is just the beginning of their journey—a journey that will grow through dance, academics, relationships, belonging, and big dreams over the years ahead.

Leading them in the dance studio is Roxanne Rojas de Blanco, and ASB alumna, Stephanie Pattynama, who knows firsthand what it means to grow up at A Step Beyond. Supporting students in academics are two more ASB alumni, Heather Rodriguez and Ruby Peña, bringing their own experiences as former students back into the community that helped shape them.

And alongside them, our Family Services team is building connection, community, and support with students and families every step of the way.

Nearly 50 students. One new cohort. So many possibilities ahead.

Welcome to A Step Beyond. Your journey starts here. ✨
