Each year, the San Diego County Farm Bureau honors one exceptional individual with our Farmer of the Year award. This recognition is presented to an active or retired farmer who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, served their community, and been a dedicated advocate for agriculture through public engagement and industry leadership.

Why the Frank Torres Memorial Poker Tournament?

This year, our Farm Bureau family lost a dear friend far too soon.

Frank Torres wasn't just the winner of our inaugural poker tournament, he was one of the driving forces behind it. As a member of the planning committee, Frank brought enthusiasm, generosity, and an infectious energy that inspired everyone around him. He helped secure sponsors, encouraged participation, and made every event more enjoyable simply by being there.

Frank believed in bringing people together, supporting agriculture, and having a great time while doing it. His passion for our organization and our members left a lasting impact that will not be forgotten.

We are honored to dedicate this year's tournament to Frank's memory. Every hand played, every laugh shared, and every dollar raised will celebrate the legacy of a man who gave so much to our Farm Bureau community.

During a search this morning in the Warner Springs area, volunteers and family members discovered human remains believed to be of 61-year-old Frank “Paco” Torres. The discovery was made around 11:30 a.m. near Highway 79 and Highway 371.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Homicide investigators and deputies are currently on-site processing evidence.

Frank’s family is searching tirelessly to bring him home. If you have any video footage — or know someone who might — from the morning of May 13 between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. along Highway 79 between Aguanga and Warner Elementary School, please come forward. Even the smallest detail could help narrow the search and bring answers to his loved ones.

Search efforts will continue daily at 9:00 a.m. until he is located. Volunteers and search teams are staging their daily operations from the Pauma Heritage Quick Stop, located at 100 Pauma Reservation Road.
