Holiday Baking at Sokol Zizka Hall 🎄🍪
Get a head start on the holidays! Bring your Christmas cookie dough and join us at Sokol Zizka Hall.

Why bake trays of tiny sugar art at home alone? We have a commercial kitchen and big cookie sheets that make holiday baking a breeze. Add good company and fellow bakers, and this could be the start of a new tradition.

10 AM – 5 PM. Come and go as it fits your schedule!

YOU BRING: your cookie dough (and your favorite recipes to share!)
WE PROVIDE: the commercial kitchen and baking sheets

Don’t forget storage containers so your cukroví (traditional Czech Christmas cookies) make it home safely and you can hide them from the sweet-tooth bandits!

The “KHB” in Sokol KHB Ennis honors Karel Havlíček Borovský!

Born on October 31, 1821, Havlíček was a Czech journalist, poet, and courageous advocate for Czech language, culture, and freedom of the press. His commitment to these ideals endured even in the face of persecution.

At Sokol Ennis, we proudly carry his name and honor his legacy by preserving our Czech heritage and sharing our traditions with future generations.

Music begins at 7 pm. Costume contest will be at first band break (8/8:30 ish). Admission $7, ages 10 and under are free. No credit cards or outside drinks please!

This Saturday is our annual Halloween Dance! There will be costume contests for all ages--6 categories. Judging will be at first band break (around 8/8:30 ish). Even if you don't dress up, please come because the costumes everyone creates are always outstanding! Admission $7 (ages 10 and under are free). Please remember--we do not accept credit cards and no outside drinks are permitted. See you Saturday!

🇨🇿 Dnes, 28. října, slavíme Den vzniku samostatného československého státu.

Sokolové stáli nejen u zrodu republiky, ale pomáhali ji v jejích prvních dnech také chránit.

Už během první světové války se podíleli na vzniku československých legií a po 28. říjnu 1918 pomáhali udržovat pořádek, střežit důležitá místa a zajistit chod nově vzniklého státu.

Česká obec sokolská tehdy vytvořila Národní stráže, které odzbrojovaly rakouské jednotky, hlídaly nádraží, železnice, sklady, průmyslové objekty i kulturní památky.

Sokolská kázeň, organizovanost a odpovědnost tak sehrály důležitou roli v prvních dnech naší republiky.

✌️ Připomínáme si 28. říjen s vědomím, že svoboda a samostatnost nejsou samozřejmostí.
