We want to express our understanding and appreciation to the homeowners and residents in the Yorkstown Park, Baldridge, and Sleepy Hollow Estates areas during this year’s race event. We recognize that temporary road closures and traffic adjustments can create frustration and confusion. We appreciate the patience shown by the community.
This annual race has taken place in this area for approximately 25 years and is completed within a limited timeframe each year, typically concluding and being cleaned up by 10:00 a.m. The run route was reviewed and certified for safety by engineers, and all barricades and road closures were implemented according to the requirements established by the City.
Law enforcement officers and volunteers were available throughout the event to assist homeowners and residents as needed. We are also committed to improving communication and support moving forward and will work to ensure additional assistance is available at future events.
We value being part of this community and appreciate everyone who helps make this longstanding event possible each year.
Thanks to the Ennis Polkafest Run and the Flag Program, we have been able to give back over $80,000 in the Rotary Park Splash Pad, the Library Summer Reading Program, the Greater Ennis United Way, the Boys and Girls Club, and numerous other non-profits right here in Ennis. 💛💙
