Welcome Thacker to Flying B.

He’s feeling so much better after just one round of meds and we’re thrilled he can spend some time out of his donut (and upgrade from a filthy cone).

This guy is a perfect gentlemen and we can’t wait to see how handsome he is when he’s fully healed.

One of the things that’s hard about rescue is that there is no shortage of dogs in need. As they say, when one door closes, another opens. Nothing is truer in rescue.

So right after we let the little on go, we picked up Thacker who was surrendered to CityVet - Waxahachie yesterday. This AKC registered poodle has been through the wringer and his skin is a disaster probably as a result of mange - but nothing that time, meds, and TLC won’t cure.

We’ll say it again. If you can’t afford basic prevention, please don’t get a dog. We understand the cost of care is a lot but a monthly dose of flea/tick prevention also prevents mange.

We have been a little grumpy lately. The situation in Ellis County seems only to be getting worse.

But on Sunday nights, I tend to reflect and find what I’m grateful for amid the frustration.

I’m grateful for all the wonderful people who support us. When we realize we don’t have to run to TSC to pick up dog food because someone sent us a delivery from Chewy or Amazon, it is truly a huge relief.

So thank you to GS Troop 1986, Ennis Cares, Ellis County Homeschool Teens and Tweens, the Rotary Club of Waxahachie, and our surprise delivery fairies who give us care packages of food, treats, toys, bedding, and cleaning supplies.

Rescue feels a little less hard with you in our corner.

There are still spots available to get your pet fixed on Tuesday by Dehart Veterinary Services at Walmart Ennis.

Male dogs Under 60 lbs
Male cats
Female dogs under 20lbs

If you’re rehoming puppies or have an unexpected litter of kittens that are 8 weeks or older, let’s get them and the parents fixed. Flying B will pay for anyone with animals they found as stray thanks to a generous grant from the Summerlee Foundation.

First come, first served based on space available for size of animal. We’ll start working them in at 8:30am
