Well we can officially welcome Mildred - or Dre as we call her around here.

On 10/5 we donned bite gloves and picked her up from City of Waxahachie Animal Services. She was fear aggressive and has a HUGE tumor. Her outlook was not bright at the shelter but they knew who to ask.

It took 5 days for her to leave her crate, and another 3-4 days before we could touch her, another 3-4 days to leave the bedroom. Yesterday she ventured outside, and last night became one of the pack that sleeps on the bed.

We go on and on about the 3-3-3 Rule when bringing a new dog into your home and Dre is the poster child for how long it can take.

But trust us, there is nothing more rewarding than earning the trust of a scared dog.

Now that we’ve earned her trust, it’s time for a trip to the vet to remove her massive mammary tumor.

A rescue partner asked us if we had a “crusty English Bulldog”. I said, as a matter of fact, we have 4 at Ferris Animal Services - Fetch Squad. On 10/6 we picked up 4 bulldogs in varying degrees of rough shape. All obese. All having some sort of eye or skin issue. They were ex-breeders.

We brought together our team and the wonderful Dr Brown to get them ready for transport. Our friend and bulldog fan Lynne volunteered to drive the dogs to our rescue partner. But beyond the 4 we pulled from the breeder, 7 more dogs hitched a ride to a better life.

Seeing these dogs leave with these children and their families brought tears of joy to our eyes.

There are no adoption fees for Flying B at the end of this journey. We do it because there are too many animals in Texas. We do it for the dogs.

We know it’s a big ask when we ask you to foster. One of the things most people are worried about is introducing a foster to the existing family dogs.

This is how to do proper introductions. Note that it’s not 15 minutes, or even 1 day. It takes TIME. That’s the part that is inconvenient and hard. And it’s hard and inconvenient for your local rescuer too.

We had such a fun time at Cenzo’s Pizza yesterday! 🍕🐾

The littles were definitely working the crowd, soaking up all the attention and making sure nobody left without saying hello ❤️

And their hard work paid off because we came home with 3 adoption applications!!!

A big thank you to Cenzo's Pizza & Deli for having us again and to everyone who stopped by to meet the dogs, give them some love, and learn a little more about Flying B.

Vanna Update!

Vanna, now known as Millie, was adopted over the weekend. We had Millie with us at the Rotary Club of Waxahachie Dog Stroll on Saturday as our table decor 😂

She is the Queen Bee and rules with love and kisses expecting nothing in return but belly rubs and the occasional treat from the dinner table. Check out her life now…

Meet Jack Frost or Jackie as we call him around here. Jack is an old soul in a young dog’s body. He gets his ass kicked by Morty a 14 year old, 18 lb Chihuahua with one eye and missing half his teeth. Needless to say he’s very submissive.

His motto is “wag more, bark less”. He just wants to meet and play with all the dogs. But he’s still learning about boundaries.

He is definitely people friendly and follows us everywhere we go.

Jack is available for adoption and ready to meet you and your family.
