In case you missed it, We took "Little" (our resident mini horse) to visit a Senior Citizen /Assisted Living home in Bastrop on Wednesday. Everyone was so sweet and Little was an angel. We really enjoyed our visit.

As The Arrk continues on our daily grind, we want to remind you we also house and care for senior citizens and special needs souls, just of a different species šŸ˜€šŸŽšŸ“ Photos below of just a few of our sweet angels aging from 27 - 34 years old. We do our best to give them everything they could possibly need or want in their golden years. It cost a fortune but they're worth every penny.

The hard truth of it is,
We have been NEAR ZERO in donations for weeks now. The majority of the funds are directly out of pocket. Its tough trying to decide what to do next, but one thing we do know is *quiting is not an option* EVER. We made a promise to these guys and we're not giving up. We're planning to continue helping even more in the near future. Its just what we do. Its a honest to God calling that cannot be ignored.

If you're able to contribute to the ongoing care of our precious seniors and special needs residents, we would really appreciate the help.

If you've thought about FOSTERING OR ADOPTING a SENIOR or COMPANION ONLY horse, PLEASE contact us now for more information. We have several teenagers and younger 20 yr olds that would adore your attention. You can text 512-922-0381 anytime.

We are negative in the donation department. We need help getting through the rest of the month. We owe for 4 bales of hay (95 each), and we will be doing another feed run in a day or two. These senior and special needs animals depend on us.

Remember, signing up as a monthly donor makes it easier than trying to Remember who and where your donations go to. Every dollar counts. We appreciate every penny thrown our way. We are a registered 501c3 Nonprofit. Your donations are tax deductible ā™„ļøā¤ļø

This is one of the purposes of The Arrk. One thing i like about Elkhart is the owners actually do care about the horses that come through. They do their best to keep the most critical cases out of the hands of flippers and kill buyers. They don't ask an arm and a leg to get them out of their facility. This grey mare is an example of that. She is severely foundered. She needs help. My heart wants to save her but we would have to have her funds covered before we offer her a safe space to rest. Not just her bail. but vetting that will be required afterwards. That's why having monthly sponsors is so important to us. It gives us a budget to work with.

There are others on the Sunday leftover post as well. A little 2 year old mare with a hip injury. A mare with epilepsy like behavior. Etc

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITHIN THE ARRK???

Alot!!! That's what!! We have made the decision to focus solely on EQUINE and LIVESTOCK care from this day forward. This will primarily be for permanent sanctuary. however we may have the occasional horse, sheep, goats, pigs etc for adoption depending on the circumstances.
We will accept Orphans, Seniors, Special needs and owner surrenders as space allows. (Owner surrenders do require a surrender fee) This will include poultry and water fowl as well. We are currently in negotiations to lease the vacant 10 acres directly next door. That will allow more space to rotate the animals.

Although we will not be accepting cats and dogs to the Arrk any longer, we will still lend our assistance to bastrop and lee county shelters with neonatal and medical fostering occasionally.

Heres where things get really busy and we need your help.

We need GRANT WRITERS.
We need SPONSOR LETTER WRITERS.
We need MONTHLY DONORS

To start, We have fences that have to be mended and a 75 year old shelter/pole barn that needs major repairs. In order to provide the best and safest care possible. these things need to be addressed asap. Along with rebuilding our savings.

MATERIAL NEEDS*

~cattle panels- to replace the sagging slick wire. (Sand shifts so much the wire will not stay tight)

~corral panels- to create more individual stalls. We need to feed each animal accordingly to their needs instead of in large groups.

~25, 50 and 100 gallon water troughs (water tight)

If you're cleaning out your farm or barn and come across other items that maybe useful, please reach out to us asap. Text 512-922-0381

Another couple major items we need help with are a 50+hp tractor and a dumping hay trailer. Any credible leads, donations or willing to owner finance is appreciated. We need all the help we can get.

If you have any questions regarding an animal in need please reach out to us directly. Text or messenger are best. Livestock needs are directed to Cambri Elizabeth and poultry/water fowl questions are directed to Michelle.

Most importantly, monetary donations are essential for feed, supplies and vet care.
ā˜†ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLEā˜†

Tomorrow is Sunday, which means we're headed to the feed stores to load up on feed and supplies. We REALLY need your help. If you're able to spare a few bucks in honor of The critters, we'd be forever grateful.

Also, we still need kitten fosters /adopters. 5 total.

If you're unable to support the Arrk financially, please SHARE our pleas for help. Sharing is caring!!

A HUGE heartfelt THANK YOU to those of you who continue to step up to the plate over and over. Your support ensures the lives of these animals are filled with everything they could ever want or need. Having you all in my corner, sharing the love for these guys means more to me than i can adequately express. ā™„ļø

We're a little off schedule with our feed purchases lately. We have Upped our feed for the seniors meaning we're using MORE than we were previously and we're having to adjust our budget and schedule accordingly.

Senior horses and senior dogs are much harder to keep than your average pet or companion. They require much more attention and special care in turn requiring much more $$$ to do so. The purpose of The Arrk is to give the best care possible to the seniors and those with special needs. We offer each of the animals a safe and happy FOREVER until death do us part.

We have struggled for months to keep our heads above water. This month, this week, this moment is no different. We simply need your constant support ā¤ļø šŸ’™

If you're able to give towards their care, we really appreciate it. If you're not able to support financially, please comment, like and share our plea. EVERY DOLLAR, AND EVERY SHARE COUNTS.

I think one of the cruelest parts of animal welfare is that no matter how much of yourself you give… it never feels like enough.

You save 100 animals, but all you can think about is the one you couldn’t.

Five amazing families want the same horse. You choose one, and four people leave hurt.

Five fosters all want the same horse. Someone is going to be disappointed. No fosters want the other horses - is there something wrong with them?

You spend hours finding grants, raising donations, and stretching every dollar, but someone still asks why you didn’t spend more.

You make the most compassionate decision you can for an animal that’s suffering, and someone asks why you didn’t try one more treatment.

You celebrate a rescue, an adoption, a reunion… and before the moment is over, another emergency walks through the door.

Then you go home and replay it all.

Could I have done more?

Should I have done something differently?

Did I fail that animal?

The truth is, this job has a way of convincing good people that they’re failing, even when they’re giving everything they have.

And that’s how burnout happens.

Not in one terrible day, but in a thousand tiny moments where you slowly give away pieces of your heart until one day you realize you’re running on empty.

People see the decisions.

They don’t always see the weight of carrying them.

And sometimes the heaviest burden isn’t the animals we couldn’t save.

It’s believing that no matter how much of ourselves we pour into this work… it will never, ever feel like enough.

Maybe just one more...
