Over the weekend, the Round Rock Fire Department lost one of our own. Fire Driver Zach French served this community alongside the men and women of RRFD for nearly 19 years, and his loss is being felt throughout our department and the public safety community.

We are grateful for the support shown by neighboring agencies, our fellow employees, hospital staff and the community during this difficult time. Many community members may have noticed neighboring agencies assisting with emergency response coverage or gatherings of our firefighters over the past several days. These acts of support allowed our firefighters the opportunity to be together and support one another, and we are deeply appreciative of everyone who made that possible.

Out of respect for the family, we will not be sharing additional details at this time. We ask that you keep Zach’s family, friends and fellow firefighters in your thoughts and prayers.

Manchaca Fire Rescue / Travis County ESD 5 is one of 13 Emergency Services Districts serving Travis County residents. Manchaca Fire Rescue began in 1968 as an all-volunteer fire department. Since 2015, we have been a fully paid, tax-funded political subdivision; a first responder organization, responding to over 1,500 incidents per year, covering the southernmost portion of Travis County, between I-35 and 45SW Toll, and from Slaughter Lane to the Hays County line. This National Firefighters Day, we recognize the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of every firefighter serving beside us and across the nation.

“May the 4th Be With You” — because heroes don’t wear capes, they wear turnout gear.

Bastrop/Travis ESD 1 C Shift trained alongside Travis County ESD 12 firefighters on multi-company operations and ladder truck skills.

Working together like this builds strong teamwork, communication, and readiness for the fireground. Proud to train and serve alongside our partners.

Two of our members recently completed an ALERRT Active Attack Integrated Response Course (AAIR). To respond seamlessly and cohesively with Law Enforcement during an Active Shooter situation.

This training strengthens the critical coordination between fire and law enforcement during high-threat incidents ensuring rapid medical care gets to those who need it most, when every second counts.

We’re proud to continue investing in training that keeps our crews prepared, capable, and ready to serve our community at the highest level. 🚒🚓
